Even the oldest, rustiest metal parts can be restored by using our automotive rust removal solution. Eastwood Rust Dissolver removes only the rust and won't eat away at the metal itself. This leaves the newly de-rusted metal ready to paint, plate or powder-coat. Our rust remover outperforms many comparable products such as Rust-oleum while costing less, letting you renew body panels, engine blocks, springs, tubes and much more.
Liquid Rust Dissolver works as long as the surface is wet. Simply submerge the part let it sit for at least eight hours. Items that cannot be fully immersed due to size can be placed in the discharge stream of a commonly available small pump. Another option is to apply our Rust Remover Gel to the surface, then loosely cover the part in plastic or saran wrap for protection. One gallon of liquid or gel de-rusts about 20 square feet of metal. Once you’re finished with the rust dissolver, wipe the surface down with Eastwood PRE Painting Prep to remove any remaining loose rust. give it a try attacks rustThought i would try this product on some doors that I am trying to repair. It is amazing how fast this product attacks Rust! the only thing you have to watch for is on bare metal that has been stripped of paint. you can get flash rust but easily removed with the SRT. or sandpaper. I even put some on the frame of my pickup that I am trying to restore, it attacked the rust immediatly.

Outstanding product!Works in just a few minutes! Use a red scuff pad and srub to speed up the procedure within 10 minutes of letting it set. It will dissolve that stubborn rust that is set in the metal without heating it up with a grinder. I was skeptical at first on how it would work. DONT BE! It works amazingly

Disappointed - Gel Rust DesolverI am working on the interior of a truck cab. I had removed the factory paint and primer from the rusted panels and panels that would be painted later. I followed the directions, using the plastic wrap over the product the first time, but instead of removing rust it created surface rust on good metal. On the second attempt, I didn't use plastic wrap and the rusted areas had a nice zinc like finish. But again, the off gasses caused surface rust on the areas the Gel Rust Desolver was not applied. Additionally, the Gel Rust Desolver did not stay well on diagonal surfaces, much less vertical panels.

what is the difference between rust dissolver and gel rust dissolver? Just one is a gel form?
Asked by: nig52
Correct. One is Gel form. Gel form was formulated and designed to hold on better to horizontal and vertical surfaces when applying. Hope this helps.

Would this product work well for gas tanks. Rust in the tank. If so how would you use it. Couple gallons inside rotate every couple hours. info please. Thanks
Asked by: bjohnson
I have never tried it on a gas tank.
If you try it, after which you would have to clean the inside completely, We do have a gas tank sealer that may be the next step to insure that there will not be a problem.

Can I use the gel on an engine block without having to submerge it?
Asked by: Devin L
Yes, the gel is an actual gel substance and does not need to be used and a submersion solution like our liquid version of this does.

I am assuming this is an acid, so, after you are done do you give the part a bath with water and baking soda to stop the acid process from continuing to eat away the metal? You need to do something to neutralize the acid from continuing to do it's job.
Asked by: Ed 2341
To neutralize we recommend using our PRE painting prep or Acetone.
