Eastwood UNDERHOOD BLACK® is the perfect high performance cross-linked enamel paint for the correct OEM-matching finish under the hood...choose low gloss or matte.
Restores OEM Low Gloss Finish
Protects From Rust and Corrosion
Fast Drying Formula
Perfect for Firewalls and Inner Fenders
UNDERHOOD BLACK® Low Gloss is just the right 15-19 percent low gloss finish for most radiator supports, inner fender walls, underhood brackets, and other under hood parts. The Matte formula duplicates the near-zero gloss finish you find in many older cars for those parts. Both formulas resist chipping, scratches and light impacts.11-oz. aerosol can covers 6 square feet; 1-quart can covers 48 square feet.
Customer Review:"I'm building a 1969 Yenko Camaro. I have the subframe and arms powder coated. I used Underhood Black on the engine bay and the underfloor. You cannot tell the difference between the powder coating and the Eastwood paint...amazing results! Looks factory-new now."
UNDERHOOD BLACK® is the correct shade of black under hood spray paint for engine-compartment paint on radiator supports, inner fender walls, lug wrenches, jack bases, under hood brackets and other parts. Black under hood paints from typical hardware stores are either too thick, too glossy, or the wrong color.
Just clean, degrease, and prepare the parts well (use our Self-Etching Primers), then apply this engine-compartment paint for a professional, factory-like, under hood paint finish. Enamel withstands up to 250° F and goes on thin for a smooth finish that doesn't hide surface details. Do not use with enamel primers.10045ZP - Eastwood Underhood Black Quart paint is Spray Only. Do Not attempt to brush out

Underhood Black Thumbs UpI shot the firewall of my '68 Camaro with Underhood Black and it came out great. Used an Apollo 5 stage turbine sprayer with 1.0mm needle/nozzle set and high solids "B" air cap. Not the ideal needle/nozzle or cap for this thin paint (I sometimes shoot thick latex on cabinets with the HS caps) but this paint is forgiving, lays down great and flowed out well. Not to mention it dries hard as a rock. Looks like a factory spray job. Real happy with the results. I hold Eastwood products up to high standards and they meet it every time.

Ready to sprayI like that the Underhood paint is ready to stir and spray. No need to dilute or add hardener. The quart can was enough for several thin coats on underside of hood on my ‘57 Chevy truck and covered well.

Worked OKWent on easy with foam roller, dried quickly, but showed roller marks.
Yes, Eastwood Underhood Black can be applied over epoxy primer. It is recommended to ensure the epoxy primer is properly cured and prepared before applying the Underhood Black for the best results.

Do you have to mix the quart paint with thinner or can you pour straight into paint gun?

Pre-Treatment: Clean area to be painted with Eastwood PRE Painting prep. Surface must be rust free, clean and dry prior to painting. For maximum protection, prime bare metal with
Eastwood Gray Self-Etching Primer or Epoxy Primer before top coating with Underhood Black. Do not use with enamel primers.
Product Thinning: Although not necessary, paint may be thinned 10-25% using Toluene or Lacquer Thinner. Stir in Thinner for a minimum of one (1) minute.
Application: Spray on 1-3 light coats for best performance. It is not recommended to spray heavy coats with this product. Allow 15 minutes between each coat.
Recommended spray equipment is an HVLP gun with a 1.3 to 1.5mm fluid nozzle.
Dry Time: Painted surfaces should be allowed to completely dry for 24-48 hours before handling.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This coating is to be applied by spraying equipment ONLY. Do not attempt to apply with brush
