Safety & Protection

Take proper precautions when painting at home with the best selection of auto panting safety equipment from Eastwood. Modern paints are now formulated to be better for the environment with low-VOCs and less overspray, but in many ways, they have gotten worse for the person spraying them. Inhaling the airborne paint fumes generated by paint guns can cause significant respiratory, organ and nerve issues. You also need to prevent stray spray from ruining equipment and clothing. We carry the best supplies for automotive paint protection made by industry leaders such as DeVilbiss, Gen-Nex, Ammex and Gerson so you can work safely.

Auto Paint Respirators

You don't want to breathe in activated urethane paints, and dust masks from the hardware store do nothing to keep the bad stuff out. Eastwood has you covered though with removable cartridge respirators and face masks affordable enough for the home paint project. We offer half-mask respirators that focus on lung protection or get a full face painting respirator that also shields the eyes. (We recommend wearing safety goggles with the half-mask.)

For both systems, remember to buy replacement filters and change them regularly. That's not all — we also have the full forced clean air systems the pros use to paint all day long without being affected by fumes. There are even systems with paint guns and respirators fed by the same air compressor line, which makes it easy to set up for a project.

Paint Spatter Protection

Make sure your car is the only thing getting painted by ordering personal paint protection apparel. Eastwood has head socks, gloves and disposable painter’s coveralls that keep you safe without affecting movement or dexterity. When the time comes to install a full dedicated paint spray booth, Eastwood has those, too. Full-size paint booths are a great investment for serious painters. If you’re on a budget, a portable paint spray shelter is still adequate to stop overspray in its tracks.

Eastwood has been helping DIY auto painters Do the Job Right since 1978. Watch our Beginner’s Guide to Dust Masks and Respirators below or visit the Eastwood Garage for even more car paint safety information. We provide free lifetime tech support by phone or email for all our painting supplies.
