This machine has smart wire feeding technology to prevent forcing excessive wire into the start of the weld. When the machine is not welding and feeding wire, it will feed wire at a slow fixed speed for approximately five seconds, and then speed up to max speed. This is to quickly feed wire through the torch. Once the machine senses that it is welding it will automatically run at the preset wire speed that the user has set on the machine. Do not be alarmed when the wire feeds slowly while not welding.

Application Tips

Weld Aluminum with a Spool Gun

Many cars and trucks have aluminum parts, or you may need to weld aluminum for a metal fabrication project, and with a spool gun you can weld 14-gauge to 1/4-inch aluminum. Quickly and easily connect or remove it as needed for working on different parts and panels. The spool gun is sold separately or you can save money when you buy it together with the Eastwood MIG 180 here.

Eastwood MIG 180 Welder

All-Around Steel and Aluminum MIG Welder

The MIG 180 comes complete (except for the gas cylinder) and is ready to weld 24 gauge to 5/16-inch mild steel and stainless. Connect the spool gun and you can also weld 14 gauge to 1/4-inch aluminum. With a 30 to 180 amp welding range, this high-quality MIG welding machine has a 30 percent duty cycle at 180 amps and a 60 percent duty cycle at 65 amps, giving you the power needed for tough projects.

The metal drive motor feeds the wire smoothly for the best operation and the infinitely adjustable wire speed and heat settings allows you to precisely control the machine. If you don't have a gas bottle, or are away from your shop, use the flux core wire for your welding project. Plus the ability to connect to either 240 or 120 volts makes this an incredibly versatile machine for any garage.

Eastwood MIG 180 Welder

Precision Drive Motor

The drive roller mechanism, which is the heart of any MIG welder, is designed to our high specifications and delivers flawless wire feed without skipping or slipping on the wire. That's why the MIG 180 has a quality METAL drive motor. This means you'll get a great puddle and solid welds without having to go back and "touch up" spots. Beware of other units with much lower quality equipment!

Eastwood MIG 180 Welder

High-Value Welders from Eastwood

This 180-amp MIG welder with spool gun has everything you need to get started, just add a bottle of shielding gas. It includes a precision metal drive motor, regulator with hose, Tweco-style torch, tips and accessories, modern features and technology. A "Quick Setup" welding chart specifies settings for each material thickness, eliminating guesswork and assuring complete penetration.

The unit is backed by Eastwood's No-Hassle 90-day return policy and industry leading 3-year manufacturer's warranty. We even provide tips and tricks on MIG welding in the Eastwood Garage that will get you started and improve your welding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great. Clean welds, easy to use, and the perfect price. I've repaired a trailer frame and modified a go kart frame already with this. Couldn't be more pleased with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built with good functionality Well built. Easy to set up. Compared to cheap (Amazon and elsewhere) welders, I expect this welder to last a long time with no issues. Cabinet is heavy gauge steel. Wire feeder wheels are steel. The duty rating and warranty are far, far better than cheaper MIG welders, and comparable to much more expensive name-brand welders. It produces a nice clean, even weld with infinitely adjustable wire speed and voltage. Highly recommended for anyone who doesn’t need a high-end unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small price to pay for a great tool! I’m restoring an Old Ford. I finally got to welding some body panels in. The Eastman 180 is the first mig welder I’ve used. It works great on the 18 gauge panels powered by 115 volt. I had a good bead within an inch of starting. The utube I watched and the manual made it so simple. LOVE THIS TOOL!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Novice user, very happy with this purchase. I’m not a professional welder, but went to school for certification. Coming from a novice, I really am happy with the performance of this machine. I’ve ran flux and solid wire through it and the machine runs pretty smooth and over all performs great. Im doing some repair work on my truck and needed to weld a mount to my frame and also patch some body panels. So far it’s been easy use of the machine. Really happy with my purchase!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the cost. Bought the 175 mig 9 years ago was pleased with on everything but 20 gauge sheet metal. After reading reviews of the 180 I purchased it for my 280z project. I am blown away how much better this mig is ! The tack feature is worth the up grade alone. How well it works on sheetmetal is be on all expectations.

Comparing the 180 to the 140, are there any features on the 180 that you don't get with the 140? I doubt I would need anything over the 140, but trying to decide which one to go with.

I have read the manual and can’t find what type and size of generator will properly run the Mig 180?  Can you help?

Asked by: Idahogreg
If you need full power output, you will want a 10,000W capable generator.

Is the voltage setting stepped or continuous?

Asked by: Welder man
The voltage and wire speed are adjusted by infinitely variable potentiometers, which I think could also be called continuous adjustment.

Odes this only come with a 240 plug? Could a RV adapter plug from 240 to 110 be used with no issues?

Asked by: dimitts4x4
All our dual voltage welders include a NEMA 6-50P plug end for 240VAC and an adapter that takes it from that to a household NEMA 5-15P for the 120VAC. You do not need to purchase your own adapter.

Do you change anything on the 180 to weld with Flux core wire

Asked by: Farm
You must change the polarity at the front panel if you have it configured for solid core. Flux core welding is done DCEN typically. This is described in the instruction manual: https://www.eastwood.com/images/library/p33980Q_MIG_180_INSTR.pdf

when in the tack weld mode are heat and wire speed a default setting or do I need to set them manually

Asked by: scott
You will set them manually just as you do welding in other modes.
