Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool. Simple to use I bought this last month. I'm restoring a 1967. Vw bus and I needed to get the door hinges off without bending or damaging the door. Right out of the box. Read directions. Clamped it on and about 1 minute later the door was apart. The best thing similar tools just for vw s are selling for 400 bucks this one was around 30. Do the job right. Get eastwood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked like a charm!! Removed the door hinge pins of a 1953 Beetle, the doors where removed from the car chassis/body so i didn't face any problems with clearance for the wrench to turn the bolt. For early Beetles you have to use tis tool upside down making it difficult to screw the bolt, was skeptical in buying this tool as there is no photo/image of the hole that the pin passes through, luckily there is enough space to come out.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works with door off on vw bug. Head of bolt scuffs the door. The bolt need to be replaced with an Allen key or ground down to fit vw bug.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Effective for Jeep XJ Successfully removed hinge pins from 1995 Jeep Cherokee. The pins are difficult to get out and the hardened shafts on the tool did mushroom some but ultimately the pin came out. Don't know how I would have removed pins without this tool.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well made heavy duty Put this tool to use as soon as it arrived ... a real challenge, my hinge pins had never been replaced on my 49 F-1 project truck and were not about to budge. Three days of soaking and heating resulted in two pins successfully removed ... the other two were so tight that the push pins distorted as pressure was applied. I replaced them with true hardened pins and was then able to begin moving the hinge pins. Bottom line, this is a really good tool that needs to be upgraded with hardened push pins to get the tough jobs done right.

Questions & Answers

Will this tool work on a 1946 Chevy 1/2 ton Pickup Truck? Which way does the door pin come out, the top or bottom?

Asked by: jcb2431
The measurements of this tool are: The opening is 3 3/4" high and 1 1/2" deep. The diameter of the pin that pushes is 3/8" This should allow you to see if it works on your vehicle. We can not go by specific make, model, etc. The pin is intended to be pushed through the bottom but can be reversed if needed.

Does this work on 66 VW Beetle?

Asked by: Borna430
With the door off the car, this tool can be used on a VW Bug door. Please be aware that the picture is showing the incorrect use of this tool on a VW Bug - the pin needs to be pushed out the top on a Bug.
