Product Overview:

Description

True acid-etching formula sticks to virtually any clean, bare, rust-free metal to improve adhesion and durability of most non-epoxy top coats.

Eastwood Gray Self-Etching Primer

Lay the foundation for a great paint job by starting with our self-etch primer. It’s made with a true acid-etching formula that sticks to virtually any clean, bare and rust-free metal to improve adhesion and durability of most non-epoxy topcoats. As a single-stage etching primer, no catalyst is needed, simplifying the painting process so you can get project cars on the road sooner.

Our easy-to-use aerosol etches and primes bare, rust-free metal in one step. Adheres to steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and galvanized steel. With the exception of our Chassis Black line, self-etch primer is compatible with virtually any non-epoxy paint or auto finish. This includes our huge lines of single-stage urethane and acrylic lacquer automotive paints. The self-etching formula bonds better to bare metals than other aerosol primers.

Self-etching primer spray cans cover about 10 square feet, making them the right choice for body repairs and small jobs. A one-gallon gray primer can will get an entire vehicle ready for the base coat. Eastwood backs both with a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee and lifetime tech support. Application Tips

Our Chassis Black paints do not stick well to this and other single-stage self-etching primers. This Self-Etching primer uses an aggressive solvent system to assure excellent adhesion to clean, rust-free metal. Exercise care when using this product over enamel finishes as lifting may occur. Eastwood's Self-Etching Primer is lacquer-based.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Use Self Etch Primer This etch primer is fantastic. It is easy to spray and lays down smooth with easy clean up after use. It also maintains a high level of contact to the surface. A great product for the value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for spotting/correction I bought this about a month ago and it worked out great. I ended up buying the spray cans since I was using this to help me single out any low-spots before laying down the epoxy primer. 5 cans covers an entire cab pretty well and really helps smooth out any lines or divots.

Hello, I'm applying this aerosol to emblems and ask what types of black satin to semi-gloss top coats are recommended that can take the sun. Thank you.

Asked by: Tony
We would recommend The SEM Trim Satin Black Paint Aerosol(10023Z) this is a (DTM) or Direct to Metal paint that requires no primer and is UV protected. This is an OEM matching Satin Black Paint.
