Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Tool! I've been using these spot cutters for the past 30 years (started back when they were single sided) and they have always worked great once you get it dialed in for the gauge you are working with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EASTWOOD 3/8IN DOUBLE ENDED SPOT WELD CUTTER I HAVE USED THEM ON SPOT WELDS FOR A FEW YEARS NOW AND THEY WORK GREAT. I FIND THEY WORK BEST IF YOU DRILL A SMALL HOLE IN THE CENTER OF THE SPOT WELD TO KEEP THE SPRING LOADED CENTER OF THE CUTTER ON THE CENTER OF THE SPOT WELD. THIS HELPS THE CUTTER TO NOT SPIN OUT AND BREAK CUTTING TEETH OFF.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cleanly parts the welded metal Easy to use. Dimple the middle of the weld to hold the center point and cut. The outer layer comes right off without leaving a hole in the under layer. Tool is durable and a great value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from as advertised Most reviews posted are negative but I found the cutters as advertised. I can only say to follow the manufactures instructions. I have just replaced 50% of the floor pans in a 1964 Fury and have yet to flip the cutter head. Take your time people and let the tool do the work!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great tool great tooland if you follow the instructions it works very well. As my Grandfather and father told me , " let the tool do the work , that's why you bought it". The only disappointment I had was the 6x8x11 box that the 3x4x1/2" product came in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functions but expect to purchase many bits. First off this thing does a good job of cutting around the actual spot weld. The problem though is that if you catch it funky in any way it will snap the teeth off. You can still cut with a few teeth missing until you ultimately catch it again and snap the rest off. If you purchase this just expect to purchase more bits and do yourself a big favor and drill pilot holes into the welds before you try to use this tool. If it starts walking you will end up breaking teeth. I may have tried something else first if I had known this but I prefer to not put a hole through both pieces if I don't have to.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK These cutters cut well but are very brittle. The slightest hang up and the teeth all shatter off. also found that drilling a small centering hole for the center pin to ride in helped. The first hole I drilled broke my first set of teeth. was able to get better desalts after a while but still went threw 4 sets (two cutters) drilling out 30 or so spot welds.

Questions & Answers

Is the center pin spring assisted or does there need to be a pilot hole first to allow the cutter to contact the work

Asked by: Bruce40
Thanks for a response to my question Eastwood! Apparently (customer service) does not read into the consumer product site posts(questions and answers) to keep updated on products, but I found that I had ordered and received the product and few years ago and forgot until today when I found it in my toolbox underneath another tool! The answer to the question is YES, the center pin is spring assisted so a pilot hole is not required, just a good center punch indent

Hi, what drill speed should be used with these cutters? Many thanks, Fred

Asked by: Fred
Fred, I like to go slow. Under 500 RPM's is what I recommend.

After use, the cutter head “freezes” and is impossible to remove by hand.  Since the design of the cutter head is smooth and round, there is literally nothing to grab to remove the cutter head.  Welcome suggestions/ideas.

Asked by: gfm12345
We would suggest, prior to the first time use, that a Never-Seez type of lubricant be applied to the threads. Then use a pair of Channel locks to loosen the cutter.
