Rated 5 out of 5 by from Review Works as described. It also stayed on when wet after it dries. I had to leave mine on for several days because I never had time to come around to finishing the project but it stays on and still sanded off without leaving any residues.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great Gave this a try and glad I did. If dropped it doesn't spill. Otherwise it does the job and doesn't clog the sandpaper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works as advertised My first time trying a guide coat. Worked as it was advertised. Used it on refinishing a trunk that I was repairing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gums up I’ve been using regular matte black spray paint as a guide coat and got tired of the pint gumming up in the sandpaper and prepped surface. This stuff is no better. I let it sit for 30min, sanded with three different brands of papers, 240, 400 and 600 grit. All gummed up the paper and turned the metal surface into an asphalt texture. What a waste of time.

Questions & Answers

Hi, I'm restoring a 68 bug and this will "sorta" be my first time for sanding, filling, sanding and painting and so on. My question is, what's the best sanding block for a multi curve surface? (The only thing on this that's semi flat are the doors).

Asked by: KPhantom
There is no one sanding block that does it all. As a first time restorer we recommend one of our Soft Sander Sets like our #12555 Soft Sander 11 inch kit that has 6 sanding blocks of different curves and hardness. This kit should work well with the curved surface of you Bug, We offer Several Soft Sander Kits you can view at www.eastwood.com.

In the areas that show spots and therefore need another very shallow skim of surfacer and/or filler - should the guide coat be removed? I mean it serves as a perfect visual of low spots. Would applying surfacer/filler over it cause adhesion issues?

Asked by: Harry
For best results as much of the guide coat as possible should be removed before applying anything further.

Is there a grey guidecoat available for when you want to use BLACK filler/primer?

Asked by: shadango
We do not have a gray guide coat. Black primers tend to act like a guide coat.

can you spray on bare metal? I know i will need to clean completely before priming. Thanks

Asked by: Jammer3
If you are trying to file the metal you could certainly be put it on. Just make sure to remove it completely prior to primer.

If I it have some overspray from cutting in the door jamb can I apply the roll on over it or do I need to sand it off. After I prime the complete car is it better to apply guide coat the same day or just before it's sanded. I'll sand in3 or 4 weeks
