Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product This paint gives a really nice bluish silver hue that strongly resembles bluish silver zinc plating. I used it on an alternator fan and pulley as well as a transmission pan. I sandblasted the parts thoroughly and primed with black epoxy primer before top coating with the clear zinc paint. The end result was amazing and strongly resembles zinc plating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard to find this locally I spent weeks looking in auto parts stores and home improvement stores and could not find anything to duplicate this color. I will be ordering more after trying out a can of this product. Well worth the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for restoration I have been using Clear Zinc for year to duplicate cad plating. It is the closest in appearance, easy to use, economical, and holds up to years of use. In restoring vintage automobiles this is my product of choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice coverage used it on my Saab rim, sanded the scratches used the Eastwood spray pre paint cleaner, put on a coat of primer then I only needed a light coat followed by a heavier coat, no runs covered beautifully. topped it off with 3 coats of Diamond gloss clear coat, looks like a new rim.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great alternative for expensive zinc plating I own a motorcycle shop in Northern California that does a lot of restoration work. We use Clear Zinc on some of the small parts that need the look and protection of zinc plating, but we seldom have enough for the minimum amout required by the plater. Clear Zinc works great!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I have a gas cap for a 1962 corvette that needed to get replated. It is plated with Zinc. I called places that did Zinc plating and they wanted alot of cash to do just a gas cap, plus they would ruin my gasket.I heard about Eastwoods Clear Zinc. I bought it and painted my cap. It looks great. Other corvette owners saw the cap and could not tell the difference. I would definatly suggest this product to anyone who needs a Zinc finish. I'm very happy with the results. Thanks Eastwood.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from dissapointed I was a little optimistic about what kind of finish i was going to get, and after i was finished painting the gas cap for my Nova, i was pretty dissapointed. The finish comes out mostly gray but there is a slight hue to it. Not anything like actual zinc though. It should almost be a 2 color operation, something like what they do with their CAD paint. I wouldnt recommend though.

Questions & Answers

Can this be sprayed on top of actual zinc plated metal? To protect the zinc plating from the elements, etc.

Asked by: Car Analogy
I don't see why not, as long as you clean it of any grease or oils before painting.

Is this a clear paint with silver hue, or just a clear coat? If I painted this over faded yellow cadmium what would it look like? A mix of gold/silver, or all silver?

Asked by: DRhea
It will have a blue-ish gray tint to the coating when dry. It's basically a gloss with a translucent tint added to replicate factory coatings. Applying it over a yellow-ish base will change the final color/effect.
