Eastwood ZDDP Oil Additive 4 oz. is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from First time use I only recently purchased the product and added it to an oil and filter change in my 1970 Chevy El Camino with a 300 hp 350 ci engine. The vehicle is used regularly, but commonly only for short trips accumulating less than 1,000 miles per year so I was not too concerned about the lack of zinc in current motor oils. Also, there seems to be conflicting viewpoints as to whether modern oils really do not provide adequate protection for older engines. That said, with Eastwood's reputation for providing quality products and the reasonable price for this additive I decided to err on the conservative side and give it a try.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good for your engine When I found out when the motor oils today didn't have the required zinc as they did back in the day for older engines like the 283 V-8 in my 56 Chevy 210 2dr hdtp. I have notice a better running engine with the use of the ZDDP. I always have some on hand so when I do change oil, I can add it to the Mobil oil I use. I plan on using it in the 77 Corvette I just recently purchased. Very happy with the product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what i needed for my car. When looking through my 36-38 Buick club magazine i came across an article on motor oils. The article listed three(3) oil brands with ZDDP none of which is available in my area. Oils with ZDDP is recommended for low compression engines like in my 1938 Buick Century. (found Eastwood ZDDP on the inter net)

Eastwood ZDDP Oil Additive 4 oz.

Item #12269Z

Prevents premature non-roller lifter deterioration

In stock

Only $8.99

If you project vehicle is pre-1989, ZDDP Oil Additive is a must for keeping that engine running smoothly.

  • ZDDP alters bearing and journal surface characteristics to prevent metal-on-metal contact
  • ZDDP reduces the tendency of parts to scuff or gall under heavy loads
  • Add a 4-oz. bottle of ZDDP to every 4-6 quart oil change

If your engine was designed before 1989, the camshaft's non-roller lifters require ZDDP in the motor oil to prevent premature deterioration. However, the U.S. government recommended that ZDDP no longer be put into domestic motor oils starting in 1989, so today's motor oils won't provide the ZDDP additive your older engine needs...unless you add this ZDDP Oil Additive!

About Eastwood ZDDP Oil Additive 4 oz.

After 70+ years, the EPA mandated that all oil domestic producers remove ZDDP (Zinc Dialkyl Dithio Phosphate) from all conventional and synthetic motor oils. If your engine was designed before 1989 the non-roller lifters require ZDDP to avoid premature deterioriation. ZDDP also alters bearing and journal surface characteristics to prevent metal to metal contact. Under extereme conditions like a high perfromance motor, ZDDP reduces the tendancy of parts to scuff or gall under heavy loads. Simply add Eastwood ZDDP Oil Additive to every 4-6 quart oil change and your motor will be protected.
