Eastwood Zinc Phosphate Aerosol 12 oz is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Zinc Phosphate Aerosol Paint As a rebuilder of hood hinges with over 25 years experience, I find the zinc phosphate paint is darker grey that actual zinc phosphate coating, but slightly lighter in color than manganese phosphate coating. Many GM factory hood hinges (1966 into the 1970's) were manganese phosphate coated as is evident by the sparkle when exposed to sunlight. The Eastwood paint appears to contain a slight amount of metallic particles. It would be better if there was slightly more metallic to better simulate manganese phosphate. Overall, I would rate it as a good substitute for either zinc or manganese phosphate coatings and much cheaper.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Achieved great results first try! Product was easy to use! I gave my hood hinge components a couple solid coats and was surprised at how even the the finish came out. It looks almost "too nice". IMHO the dark grey color matches a freshly phosphate part perfectly. I also like the fact that the parts don't have that "painted" feel to them when handled. As for the price, I was please enough with the finished results, so I am all good with paying the $15. I look forward to trying some of Eastwood's other products on my car!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Flowmaster Mufflers Look Brand New! Since my mufflers are almost exactly behind the rear tires on my 2010 Mustang GT, road debris being kicked up had worn away the previous finish and the welds were starting to rust. After using a wire brush and steel wool, I was able to clean up and smooth out the rough spots and my Eastwood Zinc Phosphate worked perfect the first time to bring them back to their original look. I highly recommend this product for anyone repainting their Flowmaster Mufflers!

The last Zinc Phosphate spray I used when on very rough, not like the original smooth finish. Does this spray also go on rough? If so, what do you recommend to smooth it out without discoloring it/

Asked by: 6979Camaro
The product will lay as smooth as your metal is and as long as it is properly prepped. There is no way to smooth out the product once applied.
