Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product This stuff is amazing. No harsh smells. Doesn’t burn your skin. You can clean metal, wash or brake clean it and think it’s good. Spray metal wash on it, after mixing properly of course, but when you spray it on and leave it a minute or so you’ll see the grease and oil rise up out of the metal. Rinse off and do it again. Rinse and dry. Now you have good clean metal to paint. I use metal wash for glyptal painting and regular cleaning of engine blocks for paint or sealant. I mixed 2 teaspoons of the powder with quart of water in a spray bottle. Works amazing and goes a long way. Little bit does outrageously well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Good Metal Cleaner Worked well to remove phosphoric acid previously applied to parts to prevent rust while stored for several weeks. Sprayed Metal Wash & scrubbed with an abrasive pad. Rinsed & left to dry. I would recommend to any friend from Tulsa.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Actually works BETTER than expected I bought this at least 3 years ago for use with my EW tumbler. I followed the recommendations and find it keeps the small brackets, etc. from rusting not only while I rinse the parts (and media) with hot water, after thoroughly drying the parts (another reason to use HOT water, the parts dry FAST) I wipe them with paper towels and bag the parts for later use - either powder coating myself or for some parts, sending them away to be plated. I used to send the parts out to be plated and knew the plater did his own thorough cleaning so never knew if the metal wash would cause trouble with the plating process. I asked a question here about the impact of this product on plating, either zinc or the tin-zinc EW setup and was told it wouldn't be a problem. Being the plater I was using went out of business, I need to plate the parts myself now - so I tested that out today and am extremely happy to report that all I needed to do was use a small stainless brush, and brush the parts by hand to remove any residue that was obvious and plated the parts and they turned out EXCELLENT. This doesn't interfere with powder coating or plating and prevents rust for WEEKS. I had used the metal wash on a car I was repainting and ended up having to leave in my shop over the winter after already having stripped the roof of all paint and primer. I expected a mess in the spring when I returned to finish the car after having set in my shop for at least 4 months. I had used the metal wash on the bare steel of the car roof and returned to find zero rust - it saved me from having to remove any rust and start over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product This product is very useful a must for every restoration I usually clean my parts with water but I need to blow it dry with air compressor right away to avoid the flash rust but with this it really help my jobs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price A little bit of powder in the spray bottle, add water, shake, and presto! Great for final wipe down of bare metal before priming. Be careful to avoid breathing the dust when taking the lid off, it's probably not good for you, so where a dust mask when miking to be safe. Will keep rust away on bare metal, but not forever. Eastwood advertises about three weeks of corrosion protection on bare metal and that's sounds about right (based on my experience).

Does this leave a residue when drying?  How long till its dry?  Can I Spray paint soon after....or will pipe threads (on pipe furniture/shelves) still have water in the crevices?

Asked by: refurniture
This product will leave a slight residue and is best cleaned before paint with our Pre Paint prep. As for dry times this can change greatly depending on many variables. Compressed air can help blow out hard to reach areas.
