Duty Cycle

The rated Duty cycle refers to the amount of welding that can be done within an amount of time. The Eastwood TIG 200 DC has a duty cycle of 60% at 190 Amps. It is easiest to look at your welding time in blocks of 10 Minutes and the Duty Cycle being a percentage of that 10 Minutes. If welding at 190 Amps with a 60% Duty Cycle, within a 10 Minute block of time you can weld for 6 Minutes with 4 Minutes of cooling for the welder. To increase the duty cycle you can turn down the Amperage Output control. Going above 190 Amps will yield a lower duty cycle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stoked about this thing! This thing definitely is beating my expectations! There's plenty of power for small project needs. My first project was welding 1/8" wall tubing off 120v power, and it's got power to spare. Funny enough this little thing is probably going to get 10x the mileage of my 250A MIG and 400A TIG because it's so portable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tig 200 Ran this machine through the ringer. Takes a little to get used to but solid performance. I’m not to keen on the foot pedal not due to operation but size. I’m a big guy 6’ 3” 256 lbs got a big foot problem. Easy fix order the foot pedal upgrade. If you have big feet upgrade.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super easy to use The power (200 amps) is better than most. The simple button trigger along with the HF start makes for an easy welder especially in the field. I only wish it had a hard case option for portability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great welder for the money I am really impressed with this welder. The tig torch could be a heavier. WP-18 instead of the WP-17 series. Higher amperage the torch heats up really quick. Other than that I would recommend this unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My best shop friend! I’ve had my 200dc since December 2016 And is still going strong. I’ve put this unit through allot I mainly weld 16 gauge and 1/8”. And use 120 current The only thing I recommend is getting a air floor meter and toss the stock gauge I picked up a airflow on eBay for 27 bucks and I save on argon waste tremendously Also get or make a cover, my unit got a little temperamental when I didn’t cover her for about 6 months in my shop But I blew it out with compressed air she came back to life. a very versatile unit I couldn’t live without. I’ve thought about upgrading to the 200 AC/DC. But with my hobby of building large scale trains in steel, haven’t needed anything else Great unit !

Questions & Answers

...How does the hand held shield work with TIG welding equipment...I can understand it for stick welding or even MIG but I'd love to see someone TIG while also holding a shield.

Asked by: Chris
I saw on a video - that the person used the shield in front of the camera to get a nice view of the welding process

I need very little power out of the torch, but my concern is the minimum amps input or breaker size needed for any thickness of weld. I’ll typically be at 1/16 up to 1/8”. The breaker is 15amp. However, 30ft away is a 20amp breaker…

Asked by: Josh
I am assuming you will be using 120VAC in this case. The 15A breaker will likely be alright for the thickness you are welding, but if it isn't one our welder extension cord on the 20A should work great.

Can this machine be run at full power using the  PREDATOR® 9500W SUPER QUIET™ Inverter Generator?

Asked by: TM36
For maximum output we recommend a 12,000W, but if you don't need it at max output you will be able to run it off a 9500W.

Looking for a replacement hose for my 200 amp dc tig unit. Can you refer a model #?

Asked by: Jesaire
If you are looking for a replacement Gas Hose #22543 is what you are looking for. If you need a replacement TIG torch (the hoses are not offered separately) we have a few depending on how old your TIG DC is: #12818 (old, plastic 4-pin trigger connection) #20168 (older, metal 2-pin trigger connection) #21260 (latest, metal 5-pin trigger connection) If you have further questions please reach out to help@eastwood.com or 800-343-9353.

Is water cooling really necessary for 200 DC TIG Machine

Asked by: Sandpiper
It depends how much you are welding and at what amperage. If you're welding regularly throughout the day for long durations at 200A, you will definitely see benefit. If you are just a hobbyist that might weld for 15min over a weekend the torch will probably not get very hot.
