It states the overall length is 18”, I like to know what is the length of the C mechanism or how deep is the reach of the clamp?

how much material will fit between the jaws at max when you lock the jaws I need to clamp 2 2x6 and a 1" beam together will these do it that is 4" in total?
This will open up to 5.5 inches when clamped shut.
