Cures Hard
This clear cures hard in about 4-5 weeks. As noted in another review, the clear is difficult to flow out, but the mixing instructions really should say 4:1:2+; 4 to 1 activator and 2+ on the reducer. It is too thick otherwise. Once at least 2 parts reducer were added this clear flows out well. Without heavy reduction, it is difficult to get to flow out.

Poor performing clear
Sorry to say I'm very disappointed in the product.
I'm an experienced hobbyist painter and have never dealt with such a stubborn clear.
I tried 2 different guns, varrying air pressures, different air caps.
I could not get this material flow out.
I've got lots of sanding and polishing in my future.

Questions & Answers
How long do I wait before sanding polishing and buffing?
You should let it sit overnight before wet sanding and polishing.

I am using Eastwoods Low Vac 4:1 High Solids Clear with Eastwood Fast Activator. My issue is that my finished coat seems to be soft and scratch's very easily when wet sanding. Do I need to add more activator or does it not work like a hardener?
The activator is what chemically cures or hardens the material. This should only be mixed at a 4:1 ratio and this should not be deferred from. If you are still having issues; please reach out to us in Tech directly by emailing tech@eastwood.com There are numerous variables that can play into this.

Do you guys consider a LVLP gun a convention or HVLP? Trying to figure out around what pressure Eastwood recommends while I’m spraying.
You do not list the model of LVLP gun you will be using. We recommend following the gun manufactures specified Pressures and CFM requirements as listed in there manual. In most applications the LVLP is considered the Same as the HVLP. The conventional gun would be the older type suction guns.

I’m adding flake to this clear, Do I lower the pressure for the flake to lay down?
It is recommended to use the manufacturers specification for air pressure with your spray gun. The tip size is most important when spraying flake. A 1.8 tip size is common for most small to medium flake. you will need to remove the cup filter if your spray gun has one.

I’ve applied 2 coats of low VOC clear over Eastwood single stage. I need to respray the panel with single stage and clear again. Can I spray single stage over the existing clear after scuffing or do I need to completely strip the clear off first?
You can not. The clear will need to first be removed before proceeding with the SSU paint.

I have sanded my clear down with 1000 grit but need more build. Will additional coats adhere or do I need a rougher surface?
^00 grit would be recommended so that there is enough of a bite for the coats to bond properly.

Follow up to the first question, what grit paper should i use before and between coats.
