MIG175 Welder and Cart Kit is rated 4.2308 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent buy Recently ordered and received the Mig 175, ordering process went very well and items arrived in the time frame that was advertised. Welder and cart were packaged very well and there was no shipping damage which made me very happy since I am on the West coast I was concerned about shipping. The cart took about 20 min to assemble and since I had already purchased Argon I fired up the welder, welded fantastic right out of the box, used the chart on the inside of the door that got me close and with a little lower voltage welded great, I purchased larger bottle of gas and the welder barely fit on the cart since it was tipped back a little other than that very satisfied. Have not tried the spool gun yet but expect it to work as it should. I had shopped prices for the big three brands but since I only use this for my occasional repair and hobby could not justify the prices, I was able to purchase this mig, the 60 amp plasma and the 200 amp Tig for what one of the big three machines would have cost. could not be happier, don't hesitate to go with this welder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall good welder First off...don't be fooled by the picture. It does not come with a nice auto dimming helmet, this was misleading because I was expecting that as part of the kit. Comes with some complete piece of useless junk hand held shield. After removing the welder from the packaging, which was very good, the next hour or so was spent putting it all together. I ran several test beads down a piece of 1/4 steel with plenty of heat to spare. Welds penetrate well and look good. Not as pretty as my snap on welder though, but this one is way cheaper. I have only used it once and had no issues so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mig welding to continue my racing career Well I kinda jumped into this one. I have been a plastic welder for the local natural gas co. For thirteen yearsAnd race ATV's for a hobbie and have been having problems with breaking the steel frame and some of the aluminum safety bars. And have a gasless mig welder and it wouldn't do aluminum so I figured after looking at all the name brands and a spool runner it just shocked me after watching the comparison to the Lincoln mig and this Eastwood price and obvious welds were the final decision for me. I still don't have a cyclinder For the argon but the voltage adjustability make doing the fluxcore wire a lot Easier. Thnx and haven't broke anything since I burnt some wire on my quad. Don't weld much but I've tried stick welding and lose my temper trying to make rods burn. And haven't pulled my hair out since I went mig. Love it and recamend it to anyone wanting to get out and weld some steel. Or aluminum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great machine; very forgiving... Won't be needing the 30 day money back guarantee - the Eastwood 175 works great. The assembly was Packaged solidly and was easy to get up and running. The instruction manual could have been slightly more detailed and specific, but indeed it was in clear (not broken translated) English. I have not yet used the spool gun because I haven't yet gone out and gotten a bottle of pure argon shield gas ($225 in my local area when you buy a full bottle, $60 to refill). I can definitely say that I have successfully welded Ford van sheet metal, nut plates and thick hitch material (all steel) with robust results. The settings are very forgiving - I've been a bit out of practice and I only weld as a hobbyist. Easy to weld and then adjust without ruining your work or causing lots of grinding work later. Plenty of power and never goes on standby to catch up on duty cycle. The car is just right on size and features. Be sure to use washers on each side of all bolts- the manual wasn't specific on this point and once I realized that I had enough washers, I had to go back and redo a few bolts. I did add some small keeper tabs to the welder platform so the welder would not slide off. I also added a spacer so the tank would not flop around in the chains, but these are just enhancements. Oh and one other thing; I was too careful setting the tension on the wheels and initially the wire didn't feed strongly. Easy to resolve once I figured out what I had done wrong. As a mechanical engineer, I would not hesitate to recommend this unit to friends or buy other Eastwood welding and cutting equipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, Great price, Great service Had trouble with gas solenoid staying open, but called tech support and they sent a new on in couple of days. Works perfect and puts down excellent weld. The cart is a little small for an "M" or larger sized bottles, but easily modified. I love this welder

when welding aluminum do you have to buy a separate gun

Asked by: ross p rock
The spool gun is used for welding aluminum. You will only need to use a separate tank for 100% argon when welding aluminum as opposed to the 75/25 Ar/CO2 mix for welding carbon steel.
