Customer Review:
"I'm building a 1969 Yenko Camaro. I have the subframe and arms powder coated. I used Underhood Black on the engine bay and the underfloor. You cannot tell the difference between the powder coating and the Eastwood paint...amazing results! Looks factory-new now."

About Underhood Black Semi Gloss Aerosol 11 ounce

Underhood Black is the correct shade of black underhood paint, having just the right 10-20 percent semi-gloss finish most car manufacturers use for engine-compartment paint on radiator supports, inner fender walls, lug wrenches, jack bases, underhood brackets and other parts. Black underhood paints from typical hardware stores are either too thick, too glossy, or the wrong color.

Just clean, degrease, and prepare the parts well (use our Self-Etching Primers), then spray-on this engine-compartment paint for a professional, factory-like, underhood paint finish. Acrylic lacquer withstands up to 250 degrees F and goes on thin for a satin-smooth finish that doesn’t hide surface details. Do not use with enamel primers. One 11-oz. aerosol can covers 6 square feet. Made in the USA.

Due to regulations pertaining to paint recycling, at this time we are unable to ship this product to Alberta, Canada.
One 11-oz. aerosol can of Underhood Black covers 6 sq. ft. For larger surface areas up to 48 sq. ft., use the quart size of 10045ZP Underhood Black Semi-Gloss (Qt.).
Q. How do I apply this underhood paint?
A. Surface must be clean, dry, and free of dirt, grease and oil. For maximum protection, first prime with a self-etching primer or epoxy primer before top-coating. For best results, use when can is between 70 and 90 degreesF. This engine-compartment paint may be used over self-etching primer or Rust Encapsulator.
  • Always wear eye, skin and respiratory protection when using this product.Always use in a well ventilated area, away from open flames. Consult MSDS for specific warnings and precautions

Painted the air filter and inside fenders on my 67 F100, the look is fenomenal but the quality....I needed to put gas in the carburator and spill some on the air cleaner and inner fender, the paint just came right off! even thou it had been a month since I painted it! how can it be "under the hood paint" when you know it comes off with gasoline?

I got 7 cans total. Covers very good, spray tip is very forgiving less runs. Color is great for under hood or under cars.

Waste of money! Twelve dollars and change for a 12oz can of paint. Not to mention 9.95 for shipping?
22.00 for 12 oz. of paint that sprayed on so dry that I had to get two inches from the part just to get the material to flow. And a week later I can scrape it off with my finger nail. Now I have to strip the part and do the job over when the part was already sand blasted to bare metal. Overpriced Eastwood crap. Never again. From now on I use automotive quality paint only.

As with all Eastwood aerosol paint, it sprayed wonderfully. I only would like to add: do not use this on clean, bare metal without self-etching primer! It will scratch off without it. With the primer, it has proven quite durable and stands up to a lot of heat.

I have used at least six cans. They blend well and match the original color. They dry quickly and I have used them on other projects other than cars where I want a durable low gloss color.
