Under Hood Thermal Acoustic Lining is specially designed to block engine compartment noise and heat

Boom Mat Under Hood Thermal Acoustic Lining was designed especially for the harsh under hood environment. Specially constructed of ¾” thick marine grade foam, with a fiberglass reinforced aluminum top layer and an adhesive back. Easily trimmed to the needed size and shape, can be applied to nearly any clean surface. Provides thermal protection for your paintjob against the extreme heat of high performance engines. Resists oil, water and other contaminants.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from performs as advertized This is the second time I have bought this product. I put it on the back side of the engine cover on my Arctic Cat Prowler. It was a very hard job to do but it was worth it. It made a big difference in heat and sound. My Daughter's Husband has one so that is where this going after he seen the difference it made in mine. It is true that it is not the easiest product in the world to work with but take your time and it will come out good. In tough places make a pattern and that will help a lot. I put foil tape over the seams and if nothing else it made it look a lot better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bogus When I asked them to provide test results, I was told the "we are not technically aware of this information." WHAT? They claim the product is rated to 275 degrees, but they "are not technically aware of any test results..." You believe this, and I have some land in Florida for sale - CHEAP! This product is crap and this company is one of many deceptive businesses operating on the internet.

Questions & Answers

What is the amount of db that this material reduces? Your 1/4” product lists the temp reduction and the db reduction. What would the distance that this would have to be kept from an exhaust manifold?

Unfortunately, the manufacturer can not provide a DB Reduction. They do not have one that they use as a marketing claim. It is rated for temperatures up to 275 degrees F so a foot distance is roughly what we would recommend.

Can this be used to replace the factory pad on underside of vehicle

This is designed for under the hood. It has not been tested with the weight of foot traffic that an underlying factory pad would have. We would however, recommend our Xmat Item #15841 https://www.eastwood.com/xmat-sound-deadening-18x32-ines-34-8-sq-ft.html

Could this be used in wheel wells? Behind the plastic fenders? Would the adhesive withstand any moisture and spray kicked up by the wheels?

This is not recommended in that area due to the moisture being able to get to the adhesive backing.

can this be used over marine engines adhered to the helm deck cover?
