Do you have a clear that can be used over your primer

Asked by: Mike3
Technically any of our Urethane based clears like our 2:1 Urethane can be applied over this: https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-2-1-urethane-clear-gallon-and-activators.html

Can this Urethane primer be spayed over your Encapsulator (16065zp) and then top coated with a Single stage Urethane paint.

Asked by: Bob76
Yes, this process would be no issues at all.

This is for use in Ca, my vehicle is mostly bare metal with a few body filler areas. What do you recommend to prime my vehicle that is voc compliant for Ca?

Asked by: Mustang 68
I ordered epoxy primer from Eastwood i was told not legal in Ca. What else you got?

Can this be used a sealer prior to basecoat? If yes, are there any other steps to do (i.e. additional % reducer)?

Asked by: Paul
Technically yes. You would activate at the recommended ratio then reduce by 20% with any of our Urethane reducers.

I will have some small areas of bare metal and most areas with old paint that will be cleaned and sanded. Is there a primer that can manage both or do i need to try and cover all the bare metal areas separately then use a primer like this over top?

Asked by: FredHill
Since you have multiple areas of bare metal by the sounds of it we would highly recommend a coat of Epoxy primer first to seal the area.

After rubbing the existing surface with a lacquer thinner soaked rag it appears that the paint used in the late 70’s was a acrylic lacquer.   Would this primer be suitable to go over this paint after scuffing with 320 or should it go down to bare metal?

Asked by: NDSioux
Yes, this primer should be fine to apply over the top of this existing finish as long as it is properly scuffed up first.

its going to be more than a week between priming & painting. I'm waiting for your paint chart to choose a paint. Will there be a problem with that length of time between priming with your low voc urethane and painting?

Asked by: moxiepop
With that amount of time, you are going to scuff the primer down to get good adhesion for the paint to stick.
