Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Great product, I 'am restoring a 66 Land cruiser and have used Extreme Chassis Black on my axles and frame components. Covers well and is very durable after it drys for a couple of days. On parts that were hard to completely clean off the rust I used the rust encapsulator first. this made for a clean durable finish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect companion for a professional quality finish. Makes the topcoat adhere better, and provides better coverage. Works great, even though its an aerosol.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ECB Primer I’ve used ECB with/without primer and prefer with. Seems to be a little more durable with the primer usage.

Is this frame coating system comparable to what is being used on current 2019 Toyota Tacoma frames in terms of durability and same finished look? My 1998 frame has no rust but I am updating the front core support and want to re hit the frame again.

Asked by: SoCal Taco
Unfortunately, we can not guarantee the compatibility with our paint. You want need to go down to bare metal, then use our Rust Encapsulator or Epoxy Primer and then the chassis paint.

I am cleaning my Dodge Ram 2500 under carriage. Can I use Rust encapsulator Platinum due to some rust and some bare, Extreme Chassis Black Primer and 2k Chassis Black Gloss? and if so can I apply all those the same day?

Asked by: Chris
The Eastwood Platinum Rust Encapsolator can serve as the primer base for the 2K Chassis Black. The Platnium Rust Encapsolator is recoatable after 4 hours. Allow it to cure for 24 hours before top coating, if allowed to cure more than 48 hours before top coating you may need to scuff the surface to promote a better bond.

I would like to use extreme chassis black but my frame is galvanized. Can I key the chassis with mordant solution, apply your chassis primer, and then topcoat with the extreme chassis paint?

Asked by: Brandons2185
Thoroughly clean the Galvanized frame of all grease, oils, and waxes with Eastwood Pre Painting Prep (10041Z) then prime with Eastwood Epoxy Fortified Extreme chassis Black Primer (11193) followed with 2 coats of Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black Spray paint Gloss(11172) or Satin(11175) for a durable long wearing finish.

Do i need to primer after the rust encapsulator and before chassis black paint?

Asked by: Lou32
You do not need to apply an additional primer. The Rust Encapsulator will act as the primer for the Chassis Black. I used this process on my dad's 1969 Corvette convertible that we restored and it looks great 10 years later!

So could you do the following: Clean frame Rust encapsulator  Epoxy chassis black primer Chassis black? Or is that too many steps?

Asked by: Nate
That is actually the preferred method for coating a frame.
