Do not buy inadequate protection
You need at min. A shade 9 for plasma cutting because plasma cutting creates an electrical arc save your eyes!!!!

Questions & Answers
I have a welding helmet but sometimes a friend my be watching me weld from a distance, 5 feet away. Would these glasses be OK to protect his eyes?
These would not be the correct shade for proper protection from this. A welding helmet with a wider range of available shades should be used.

Can/should these be used for oxyacetylene cutting?
The plasma Shades have a #5 shade range. Oxyacetylene welding can be from a shade range from 4 to 6, depending on the thickness of the metal your welding.

can these glasses be worn over prescription glasses
Nope, not comfortable at all. But they do look cool though. I just use my welding helmet, which works great and protects my neck and face from sparks.
