Customer Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ford Blue I bought this to paint the engine and transmission before I put everything back in the car. I wire wheeled the entire transmission and cleaned every nook and cranny. Afterwards I wiped down the entire thing with paint prep. Then applied the high temp primer and 2 coats of the Ford Blue paint. It came out amazing with a smooth finish. The spray pattern is amazing and layer the paint down with ease. Next up is the engine block! Then back into the freshly painted engine compartment! Chris D. El Paso, TX

Questions & Answers

Can 2K Aerospray High Gloss Clear be applied over fresh acrylic lacquer?  Thanks!

Asked by: Fordyford
Technically, we can not guarantee compatibility between our products and products we do not sell. We would have to advise you to test a small area or a scrap piece of metal first.

Is this color the same as another readily available car-maker color. For example, is it the same as Torch Red as used on GM cars?

We cannot guarantee perfect color match with any original manufacturer colors.

Is it true this paint must be cured with heat to promote proper adhesion? Adhesion to an aluminium cam cover was very poor unless this was done. You should in your instructions advise people to heat cure this paint (engine or oven heat)

Asked by: Paul
It is not. This is a 2k primer it chemically cures.

Does the self etching primer stick better than the 2k epoxy primer? Am I supposed to use the self etching primer and then a layer of 2k ht primer? I'm painting a cast iron engine block and will be using your flat head green.

Asked by: Ndkarlsson
Self Etching primer is not temp rated anywhere near high enough to be used for this application. The only primer we have that can be used is this 2k High Temp Engine Primer.

I only need to touch up a few tiny rock chips. I do not want to waste the full can by activating the hardener. If I do not activate the can and just spray a small amount out & dab it on with a toothpick, will it still cure properly?

Asked by: RC317
This will still cure properly in small areas.
