FAQs
Rust Encapsulator can be applied with the Undercoating System, but this application isn't recommended because Rust Encapsulator requires surface to be free of grease, oil, and loose rust. The best product to coat inside box sections is the Heavy Duty Anti-Rust (16017 ZP). This waxy, oily product flows into pinch welds & through rust to seal surface from contact with moisture & air, but cannot be painted over so is only suitable for inside box sections that don't show. Use lacquer thinner for cleanup.
In the Box
Contents
One quart of Rust Encapsulator, enough to coat up to 50 feet with a double coat.

Application Tips
Wire Brush to remove loose rust, scale and paint. Remove dust, grease, oil deposites. Thoroughly stir can contents to assure complete mixing. Feather surrounding paint with 220 grit sandpaper. Brush apply directly from the can or thin 20% w/lacquer thinner to spray. Single coats dry to the touch in 20 minutes and are thoroughly dry in 3-4 hours at 68 degrees F. For greater durability a second coat can be applied one hour after the first. Allow 6-8 hours after last coat before applying top coat. See can label for more details.

Amazingly easy jump start
I purchased a gallon of the encapsulator and have just had a chance to use it the last couple of days. I’m using it on a 1997 f250 truck frame that obviously has some rust. I am using a brush to apply and it is amazingly easy to use with a fantastic result. I will be purchasing a couple of aerosol can for the hard to reach areas.

Questions & Answers
I have surface rust starting to show on the rear quarter panel of my vehicle. Can I apply this directly to the paint area or is that bad for the paint?
Rust Encapsulator can be applied over various surfaces including paint. Loose rust, grease, and oil should be removed, and the surface should be roughed up, clean and dry for optimal adhesion and performance.

Will this work on Inside of exterior roof gutters. Mine are zinc coated and are starting to rust
Yes, Eastwood Rust Encapsulator Black can be used on the inside of exterior roof gutters, including zinc-coated surfaces that are starting to rust. This product is designed to encapsulate rust and prevent further corrosion. Before application, ensure the surface is properly prepped by removing loose rust, cleaning thoroughly, and allowing it to dry. Is the pre painting prep required before applying rust encapsulator?
The final step in surface paint preparation—Eastwood's PRE™ Paint Prep—just spray or wipe on, and wipe off!
Proper surface preparation is one of the most important factors in helping you achieve a high-quality final finish. Our specially formulated PRE Paint Prep helps you prepare a surface for painting by removing dirt, wax, polish, grease, silicone, buffing compound, even road tar, ensuring a clean surface that's ready for final painting or powder-coating. Auto paint prep gets no easier!

Some of my chassis still has paint and some will be to bare metal. Is this product good to paint the whole thing, over the paint and bare metal?
Yes, you can apply this matte black rust-stopping paint directly onto surface rust and over properly prepped existing finishes and bare metal surfaces. I would test an area first to make sure there is no reaction as we cannot guarantee no reaction if existing painted surface is unknown.
It’s epoxy-fortified to resist corrosion and UV rays, meaning you can leave it as a topcoat or paint over it like a primer. Eastwood rust preventing spray paints are proudly made in the USA with a one-year warranty.
