Questions & Answers

I'm doing a repaint on a 77 Corvette that has multiple areas of checking (also known as crows feet). Is there a primer surfacer sealer that will cover this and not come through after new paint is applied? 30+ years ago there was.Thank you Russ

Asked by: Russ
you should be able to use polyester primer to fill those and block smoothe

Going to do a whole repaint on a truck. Color is dark emerald green. Going to use a 2k primer as a sealer just don't know whether to use a grey or black sealer for better results...?

Asked by: Vick79
To give your Dark Emerald Green paint job the deepest richest color it would be recommended to use the black primer. Spraying a Dark Green over black primer can be difficult to see your coverage so insure good lighting in the booth. If good lighting is an issue the grey primer will make it easier to see your level of coverage.

After block sanding this primer, i have a few spots i sanded thru, shold i coat with epoxy primer sealer or can i reduce the high build a little to cover those spots, sand and then top coat, i will be finishing with single stage urethane coastal highway

Asked by: Willy
You can reduce the urethane hi-build primer up to 20 percent with a good urethane-grade reducer and then re-apply.

I’ve had about half a gallon of this primer left in the can with the lid on it for almost two years. Is it still good to use?

Asked by: Blake
At two years old and after being opened previously, we wouldn't recommend taking the chance as the chemical compounds could be compromised.

Ok i have after meda blasting i have dp40 now i have none body work and i have bondo and bare metal, can i use this primer sealer over the dp40 bondo and bear metal ?? Thanks chuck

Asked by: Chuck
This primer should not be applied to bare metal. It works best over Self Etch or Epoxy primers. We can not guarantee compatibility with your filler in reference, only the options we offer as this is all it has been tested with.

I purchased the 2k urethane primer but was unable to get the regular activator due to California restrictions.  I used the low VOC activator instead, but it shot extremely rough.  Do I need a low VOC 2k primer with that activator, or adjust my mixture?

Asked by: Rob77
Any of our kits should only be used as listed. Alternate activators can not be swapped out. You would need to order the LOW VOC Urethane system which can be found here on our website https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-low-voc-gray-urethane-primer-and-activator.html

Asked by: bob n
Yes, this can be used for the application in reference. You will want to utilize a Plastic Adhesion promoter first.

I am finishing a fiberglass body for a cobra. I just discovered the Optiflow system and I love the idea of rolling and not having to all the equipment to spray. Is the 2k urethane the right product for me?

Asked by: Opie
Our Urethane is a great way to add a high building primer to block sand all the panes nice and smooth before paint. The best part is no spray booth necessary.
