POR - 15 fuel tank repair
POR fuel tank coating works very well. My tank was solid with no holes. The factory plastic coating was flaking off and plugging the petcock. Added steel nuts in the cleaning solution to dislodge most of the remaining plastic. There were still some areas of plastic but the POR did a good job sealing those areas from coming loose. Had to be very careful with the custom paint.

Works bettter than expected
Had a tank issue which allowed water to enter the tank through a rusted out drain tube. Drilled out and soldered in a new drain, and used POR-15 Cycle repair to clean, etch and coat the tank. Interior of the tank is now sealed and the coating appears to be pretty tough - money well spent on a product that works as advertised!

Works very well
This is the second time I have used POR-15. The first was about 12 years ago, on a moderately rusty motorcycle tank. That tank is still in great shape, despite the bike sitting for long periods of time. No flaking noted. More recently, I had a very badly rusted 46 year-old tank. No holes evident. Prior to using POR-15, admittedly, I pre-etched with a pure acid product, as I feared the rust load was too heavy for a single application. Glad I did. With the combination of that product and the 3-step POR, a very nice result was obtained, with seemingly complete (as best as I could tell without a fiberoptic scope) rust eradication and subsequent coating. I can't report on durability, but as mentioned, the last one has lasted > 10 years. Using an acid etcher alone, if the tank is diffusely rusted, will almost surely fail, as the rust will "grow" back promptly.

I have used 3 brands of tank sealer. I was most impressed with the hard shell this product applied to the inside of the tank.

Good but follow direction carefully
I used for pinhole gas tank leak. Make sure to open any passages as will fill in 1/4" hole with no problem. Had to drill out fuel opening.

So far so good
It's been a month and sealer seems to be holding up well. Process wasn't too hard. Time consuming. The only difficult part was trying to get sealant to cover entire inside of tank. After moving tank around for the better part of an hour I still had tiny areas that didn't get covered. Be persistent and follow directions. I also used a hair dryer to make sure inside of tank was completely dry before using sealer.

Will POR15 work on the interior of a Holley 650 cfm spread bore carburetor to protect it from todays gasoline? I suspect the body of the carb is made of what we used to call pot metal. Perhaps you could provide amended instructions?
fuel will not harm pot metal. its the old rubber bits that fail.

If I use a product similar to JB Weld for a metal tank repair that has a hole in it, can I use this product safely to make sure the tank is fully repaired and leak free after using that product to patch the hole?
Yes, this should not be an issue once this has been on ad fully cured.

If I want to use POR 15 just at the bottom of one side of the tank where there is a small rust spot that has started (the rest of the inside of the tank is mint), can I just pour it in that one spot and let it dry? Will it peel off later?
This is advised to use for the entire tank and not just one spot.

Will either the cleaner/degreaser or metal prep damage the paint on the outside of the tank? If so how would you avoid this issue? Thanks in advance.
