Eastwood 2K Urethane Primer Surfacer Gray- Gallon 4:1 is rated 4.739130434782608 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A bit of a learning curve for the beginner. Goes on a little thicker than the spec sheets indicate. Comparing it to the other Eastwood products, this does not perform exactly as the spec sheets would indicate. It is bit more viscous and requires a 1:2 needle in the Concours Eastwood Gun or to open the needle all the way on a gun with a 1:4. All other adjustments on the gun should be open as well and dialed in as needed. I recommend you use 25 psi at the gun to start if you have a decent to high quality gun. Once you have the gun dialed in, this product works great and fills in nicely after the second pass. A third pass and most light imperfections are gone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Poor Flow with out reducing, but easy Sanding. I shot this with a DeVbliss Starting line gun with the 1.8 tip. It did not flow very well, and I had to reduce it 20%. Other wise it was like shooting mud. If not reduced it came out very textured, and added sanding time. Like the tech sheet says, it was sandable after 30 minutes or so. Was easy to sand, but because it was very textured, it was quite a bit of block sanding starting with 120, and moving up to 400. Once I thinned it out, it was super easy to shoot, and sand. The Tempature in my shop was around 80, so that might have had something to do with it. I ran out of this and picked up some Nason 2k Primer and I felt like the 2 were very close in terms of shooting and sanding, but this product was a little cheaper. When I run out of the Nason 2k Primer, I will rebuy this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product - very satisfied I have used other primers, more expensive items from a local auto paint store. This product flows on easily, covers well and cleans up with a minimum of work. It sands nicely, providing a good substrate for the one step urethane paint I've used with excellent results. Bear in mind, I'm a do-it-yourselfer with only some painting experience, but this product works well. I highly recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product, long shelf life! Let me start with a disclaimer - you must read and follow the instructions! Since we're in the DIY world here, I suggest practicing spraying things that don't matter to get used to your spray gun, the settings needed, and this product. This product is designed to go on heavy and fill imperfections, so yes you will have to sand it for a nice surface to lay the final color on. But, this stuff sands AMAZINGLY easy! I sanded it dry, and used the shop vac extensively to control the dust. I also used good quality sandpaper too - 320 on the fist coat, then put on on 2 more heavy coats and then used 420 before putting on the final single stage color. You'll need to color sand the final color too! Many DIY'ers don't do this and are usually disappointed with the final outcome. I also need to mention that this primer sat on my shelf for 5 years before I used it. The catalyst was unopened, which I think is key (Eastwood, would you please publish the shelf life of opened catalyst?) I did NOT thin it beyond adding the catalyst as I think that would make the coat to thin and not achieve a good fill. In short - GREAT PRODUCT at a reasonable price! I highly recommend it. PS - I am not a pro, but I have been restoring cars as a hobby for over 40 years and have painted dozens of cars in my garage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not great Warning! You have to buy the thinner because this product is way to thick to spray. Goes on nice after thinned about 15% with the Zero VOC Thinner. Real nice as a sealer. Sands well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great stuff!!! The guys at Eastwood know me and they also know I use PPG products in the shop. However, I decided to give the Eastwood refinishing products a shot and I am really impressed with the way this prime sprays and more importantly how easily it sands. I'll definitely be using more of their refinishing products in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great primer! I used this stuff on a bumper cover repair with great results.Just make sure you use a tip larger than a 1.4 if you are going to spray large panels without reducing it. Overall, i am very happy with it and will be ordering more for my other restoration projects.

1. What grit should epoxy primer be wet sanded with prior to application of this primer surfacer? 2. Can this be topcoated with Extreme Chassis Black?

Asked by: Tricyclerob
As long as you top coat within 5 days you will not need to sand it before primer surfacer. Past that you can sand with 230-400 grit before this primer. Extreme or ceramic chassis black can be applied over this primer.

Can I use this primer over an etch primer? What body filler do you suggest? And what paint would work best with this primer, as a top coat?

Asked by: Rudy C
The urethane primer surfacer can certainly be used over top of Etch primer. You would then be best to topcoat with a Urethane paint.

Will it hurt this primer to be out in the weather for a while before sanding and painting

Asked by: Stingray
As long as the surface is not broken on it after being sprayed it will be alright.
