Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black Satin Paint

Product Overview:

Description

Extreme Chassis Black has 3X the resins of traditional coatings, so it's tough enough for any undercarriage component...choose satin or high-gloss.

For enthusiasts that drive to the extreme or have a particularly challenging restoration ahead, this heavy-duty car frame paint is up to the challenge. Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black® Paint is a proprietary coating that can renew and maintain the look of the undercarriage. Once you’ve stripped away surface paint and rust, apply a coat of Extreme Chassis Black Primer followed by this durable coating. It has three times the resins of our original Chassis Black for three times the protection against corrosion, scratches or chemical fading. The low-gloss satin finish is a match for many OEM underbody paints. (It’s also available as a high-gloss formula.)

We offer Extreme Chassis Black in 14-ounce aerosol cans for small jobs, 1-quart sprayable cans for small vehicle undercarriages and 1-gallon cans for full-size cars and trucks. It’s the final stage of our four-step process to restore rusty metal. After all the time you spent on preparing the suspension, top it with a frame paint that will keep the undercarriage in great shape for years. Eastwood has a 90-day guarantee and lifetime tech support on all our automotive paints.

  • Improved resistance against corrosion, chips and scratches
  • Matches OEM finish
  • Apply multiple coats without lifting
  • 11175Z: 14-oz. Aerosol provides 8-sq. ft. coverage
  • 11176ZP: Quart provides 40-sq. ft. coverage
  • 33991ZP: Gallon provides 160-sq. ft. coverage
  • Satin Finish 25-35% gloss

Note: This paint can not be applied over top of self-etching primers.

You've spent many hours prepping your frame and suspension parts; now top-coat it with a tough, OEM-matching formula that provides extreme durability! 3 times more resins make it 3 times more durable than our original Chassis Black.

Customer Review: "This is a great product but you really have to use it with the Extreme chassis black primer. Buy both of them if you want a good finish."

By using Extreme Chassis Black paint from Eastwood, you’ll take better care of the frame so it can support your automotive adventures. We’ve put three times the resins into this epoxy frame paint as in the original chassis black finish. That means it lasts three times as long while forming a stronger barrier against everything from rust to UV fade. The satin finish matches OEM underbody painting with a mellower look. It also is better at hiding imperfections on a custom paint job than high-gloss paint is.

There are multiple ways to cover frames, brake parts, wheel wells and springs with a premium finish. Our chassis black spray paint is a convenient option for small projects or hard-to-reach areas. For larger underbody restorations, we offer a quart or gallon frame paint kit that can be brushed on. Although this paint can be spread over bare metal, we recommend using Eastwood Extreme Chassis Black Primer for best results. Give well-prepped suspension parts the top coat they deserved with our 100% customer satisfaction guarantee.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product Excellent product that does whst it says it will do. Have used on several cars, with and without primers. Provided the steel is clean it has a long life. I use the aerosol version for small parts and touch-up on disturbed bolts or scratches. Good product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have used other brands for years. I have used other brands of Satin Black for restoration work and this product is by far the best quality for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product In the past I've used satin black spray paint from the usual name brands. They work okay but don't give you the exact match for what OEMs use in engine compartments. Plus if you don't spray the satin black consistently you get variations in the gloss. Eastwood's Extreme Chassis Black sprays evenly so if you get it a little heavy in one area the gloss remains consistent. Plus, it's a perfect match for the OEM finish and it's more resilient. I've used spray bombs for touch up as well as quarts with my spray guns. The nice thing about it is that you don't have to thin it or add any activator to it. Just pour some in your gun, spray it, and pour the remainder back into the can for use next time. The spray gun easily cleans up with lacquer thinner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extreme Chassis Black is the Best! When I first learned of Eastwood paints, I began using the regular Chassis Satin Black but eventually switched to the EXTREME Chassis Black and the finish is so much better and long lasting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great looking chassis I had been putting off picking a finish for my chassis on a 47 international dump truck. I picked Eastwood because of my satisfaction with other purchases. I used the extreme primer and satin black. The results are perfect

Questions & Answers

I read this isn’t compatible with self etching primer. Will it adhere and hold over zinc plated steel?

Asked by: LinkeZurdo
Thank you for your question. You are correct, it will not adhere over self etch primers. We would not recommend using this or any epoxy based primer or paint over zinc coating/plating. We can not guarantee compatibility. You will need to prep the surface well and use a self etch primer over zinc and follow up with a urethane or lacquer base paint. Our Eastwood Underhood Black will work well for this application. Link below: https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-underhood-black-paint.html

Can a foam roller be used in the same manner as a foam brush for application?

Asked by: Etnoats
This product should not be rolled on. It is pre thinned and intended to be sprayed but if absolutely needed can be brushed on with a foam brush.

can this be applied over factory painted frame (2021 f150). no rust, looking to prevent future issues

Asked by: schn4x4
We can not guarantee compatibility between our products and products we do not offer (the existing product down in this scenario). We would have to advise you to test a small section by scuffing, cleaning and applying to a small section first before applying liberally over everything.

Is this stuff a Direct to metal coating? If not will it work as a topcoat over your guys black epoxy primer? Or what do you guys think I should do? I'll be removing as much of the factory paint on my chassis as possible

Asked by: Cjs1994
Technically, this can be applied to properly prepped bare metal. However (like with most any coating) this works best when applied over a primer like our Extreme Chassis Black Primer. This will give you the best durability and adhesion possible.
