Use a wire brush to remove loose rust, scale and paint, and remove dust, grease and oil deposits. Feather surrounding paint with 220-grit sandpaper. Shake can for at least 2 minutes once the mixing ball starts to rattle. Hold the Rust Encapsulator can 10-12" above surface as you spray. A single coat dries to the touch in 20 minutes, and is thoroughly dry in 3-4 hours at 68°F. For greater durability, a second coat can be applied 1 hour after the first. Allow 6-8 hours after the last coat before applying topcoat. Use over or under body fillers.

Want 3 Times More Rust Protection?

In places where little or no surface prep can be done, our Internal Frame Coating or Heavy-Duty Anti-Rust (16017ZP) is actually a better choice for applying into blind areas such as box sections.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff I bought this truck with Everything I wanted except for the rusty frame, and I mean rusty. I had been looking for a crew cab and a 6 ft bed for quite a while and knew I probably wouldn't find another one. So I bought it with POR 15 in mind. Cleaned up what I could and started painting. I love the big cans that go a long way. Shake well as it goes on thick. It looks good and I believe it will stop the rust. I'm going to get some more to paint the inside of the box frame. Happy customer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Eastwood Rust Encapsulator I have used this product over 20 years with good results. I think it used to be called Corrolless. I've used this mostly on iron items with surface rust that is difficult to remove completely. Such as Master cylinders, brake drums, brackets, intake manifolds, oil pans, etc. I typically spray over minor rusted areas and it acts like a primer coat. Holds up well and I've never noticed a rust break through on there parts I'ver used this on. And it is compatible with most primers including catalyzed urethane primers. This product provides an alternative method to make a repair on mildly rusted parts instead of having to media blast the part.

Can u weld through encapsulater? If so how long do u have to wait?

Asked by: Haven
This is not intended to be welded on. If this is down- you should strip this off before doing your welding or wait until after to apply it.

I have a 05 F250 and the cross braces under the bed are starting to rust. These are the braces spot welded to the bed and not part of the frame. Would this be a good product to spray inside and out on these? Also what should I use to prep the the surface?

Asked by: dlove
For internal applications and areas you can not access to do any prep work- we recommend using our Internal Frame Coating https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-internal-frame-coating-14oz-aerosol.html. Externally the Rust Encapsulator in reference would be a great option. You will want to wire brush or wire disc off as much of the lose or scaling rust as you can, smooth out the surface applying to and surrounds with 400 grit paper, clean with PRE then apply this Encapsulator. This can stand alone or be top-coated further if you would like.
