Description
Eastwood's Contour® Micro-Strand Filler is a multi-purpose, high-strength, micro-fiber-reinforced filler designed to repair rusted-out spots, holes, tears and cracks on fiberglass, regular and galvanized steel, aluminum and SMC.

This waterproof formulation also provides excellent feather edging and sanding properties. Can be used with or without fiberglass matting. Cream hardener included.

Application Tips
Surface must be free of grease and dirt, use PRE Painting Prep . Abrade metal surfaces using 36 grit, fibreglass with 180 grit. For maximum adhesion, apply directly to bare metal. 6. Mix the desired quantity of product with hardener. Apply mixed product using a clean spreader. Avoid filling depth greater than 1/4 inch. Allow to cure thoroughly, at least 20 minutes before sanding. Sand with 24 to 36 grit to achieve desired contour. If required, continue with quality body filler or glazing putty until desired smoothness is achieved. Topcoat with a premium quality primer, such as Eastwood's Epoxy or Urethane

Good product from start to finish.
This product has a good frothy not to gooey consistency and cures quick and tack free. Very strong and sands well.

Strong and easy to sand
It is very easy to mix, spread and sand (80 grits). It is also very strong. I also tested directly on a fiberglass mat and got a very good solid result.

Good but fades fast
I've used this product on a few cars now and I have a love/hate relationship but will buy again unless I find better. It works great, mixes well, goes on good, shapes very easy, and the sanding of it is spot on. It does have a tendency to clog sandpaper when you initially start sanding, regardless the cure time. My reason for the hate part is that the unused portion doesn't last long at all. It comes in a large container and starts to clump and get small clump particles all through it after about 3-4 weeks from the initially opening. Then it becomes a pain to work with, really hard to get a uniform layer with lines due to dragging clumps, and eventually frustrates you to the point of just tossing it.
My advice: Eastwood needs to sell this in smaller quantities too. I have a hard time justifying $50 on a product that I'm going to toss probably half or more. I do one car at a time and don't come close to using it all before it starts to clump and become unusable. Quart size would seem perfect for the average user.

Well I used this stuff back in the day so its nothing new just maybe more improved great for small rust out sections as long as you back it up . and finish the repair on the back side and seal it it will hold out .I haven't used it yet so this is the first time in 30 some years that I used it since I worked in a body shop and wanted to get back in the business to restore cars so i'm happy to try something new.. i'm only giving it a good rating till I try it but I think I will be happy with it

Is there a 2K version of this conture filler or just put polyester coat after it.
A primer needs to be applied after applying this filler to seal everything off before proceeding to applying your paint. This filler is not available in any other form.

Will this be good to apply over rusted area under weather stripping of front glass? It is pretty rusted just wondering if there is a way around cutting and patching. If I can apply a very tough body filler and shape it ...?
We recommend cleaning the rust with wire brush or wheels, then use Eastwood Rust Encapsolator (16060Z) to neutralize the rust. You can then either use USC All Metall Filler(50751ZP) to level and support the area or use Eastwood's No Weld Panel Bond Adhesive(31087) to Bond on patch panel material to provide a secure smooth surface.

Would this be a good product to applied to rusted spots that have been treated with fast etch?
Yes, this could be used for the application in reference.

Would I use this instead of bondo if the filler sections on metal are more than a 1/4" deep?
You would want to avoid filling depth greater than 1/4 inch with this filler, as well. It is always best to hammer/dolly or pull the damage out to reduce the amount of filler needed to less than 1/4".

Can this be used on a car that will be parked outside and exposed to rain? Or will it absorb moisture and eventually cause rust issues like with other fillers?
While this is a "waterproof" body filler we do not recommend leaving a vehicle which is a mix of bare metal and body filler outside to the elements. If you need to work in sections we would recommend sealing the area with our Epoxy primer after body filler before you need to push it outside.
