Original finishI paid a paint job in ann arbor to blast & paint the rims for the '65 Corvette, specifying satin finish. They must have had some flat primer around and used it. Eastwood's Satin black duplicated the original finish. Picture attached...you can easily see the difference.

Looks great, excellent coverage!I used this to get the durability and just the right surface when I repainted the honeycomb grill on my Ford pickup. Covers well, great satin finish, Would buy again for this or other applications.
I had my rims powder coated and they're showing signs of rust. Will I be able to clean these and paint with Eastwood rim paint?
Asked by: Sam D
This can be painted directly over a properly sanded powder coat. The rust should treated before painting also

I have clear coated aluminum wheels…that I want to paint black… Is it sufficient to fully scuff the rims and paint directly…Or MUST we strip to bare metal?
If we just sand them is there a regular primer to use other than self etching?
Asked by: Dave Id
The clear needs to be removed from the surface before proceeding. Depending on what paint you apply a primer will most likely be needed and will depend on the specific paint that you apply.

What's the best thing to use for cleaning after painting the rims with the 2K aerosol so you don't hurt the paint
Asked by: Joseph
Once fully cured, solvent based cleaners like our PRE or Acetone should not effect this negatively at all.

After sandblasting aluminum wheels what primer should I use before applying wheel paint? Can the 2k clear gloss be spayed over wheel paint for gloss finish?
Asked by: Tgunn
We highly recommend using the Self Etching primer on bare metal before applying this wheel paint. The clear coat in reference can be applied over top.
