After sandblasting aluminum wheels what primer should I use before applying wheel paint? Can the 2k clear gloss be spayed over wheel paint for gloss finish?

Asked by: Tgunn
We highly recommend using the Self Etching primer on bare metal before applying this wheel paint. The clear coat in reference can be applied over top.

Any expereince with this product in the North East winters - heavy salt applicaiton on the roads. What the correct adhesion promoter to match over OEM chromed plastic center caps. Thanks.

Asked by: Mike
This product is designed to be very durable. SEM has a great adhesion promoter for plastic. Link is below. Item #52366Z https://www.eastwood.com/adhesion-promoter-aerosol-14-75-net.html

Just purchased a 2011 VW Golf with steel wheels. Would like to paint them a gloss or satin black. If I use your Satin Black Wheel Paint, what is the drying/curing time, and would you recommend using your PRE Painting Prep and Self Etching Primer first?

Asked by: BobK
The cure time on this is 24 hours, you will want to scuff the surface down and then clean with the pre. The last step will be using a self etch primer before using the wheel paint.

I want to paint the OEM wheels on my 2015 Merc C300 but they seem to have some sort of (plastic / rubber ?) coating on them. Do I need to remove this coating or can I simply use a self etching primer and then top coat to cover them?

Asked by: fraserl
This coating would need to be removed before applying your Self Etch primer and paint.
