Eastwood HotCoat® Zinc Rich Primer Powder Coat

Product Overview:

Description

Helps color powder coats bond to the part being coated. While all Eastwood Powder Coats can be applied directly to a bare metal surface without the use of a primer, certain projects demand increased corrosion protection. If your parts will be exposed to a corrosive marine environment or will spend time exclusively outdoors in harsh weather, Eastwood recommends using Zinc Rich Primer before the top coat color to assist with adhesion and corrosion resistance.

  • Cure Time: 20 Minutes @ 400°F (actual surface temperature)
  • 100% Virgin Powder
  • Gloss Level: High - 60% to 90% at 60 Degrees
  • Powder Type: Pure Epoxy
  • Storage: <80°F, well ventilated, <60% humidity

**Note for cure time: be sure to monitor your parts closely using the 31223 Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer to be sure your part does not spend more than the required cure time at full temperature. For primers, over curing will affect adhesion of top coats. Over curing on translucent candies can "burn" the color and darken it. Over curing in general will affect long term durability of the coating.

    Questions & Answers

I'm trying to create an anodized look - would this primer be a suitable base coat, topped with your translucent red (#10092), to achieve something similar to anodized red (as per the examples at https://www.eastwood.com/hotcoat-powder-anodized-red.html?

    Asked by: AnthonyJE
Following the link mentioned if trying to achieve the color shown on the right side of the speed shape/ spray out then the Translucent red would need to be applied over a chrome like our Extreme Bonded Chrome found here: https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-extreme-chrome-bonded-powder.html
