BASECOAT PAINT MIXING RATIOS
Thoroughly mix four parts Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat with one part Low-VOC Urethane Activator. Use Fast (50308ZP) for small jobs, or temps below 75°F; Medium (50309ZP) for small jobs, or temps between 70-85°F; or Slow (50310ZP) for large jobs, or temps above 80°F. Keep in mind, other factors, such as humidity, air flow and total film thickness should also be considered. In many situations, it will be useful to add 10%-20% 50104ZP Zero-VOC Reducer to aid sprayabliity, flow and leveling. Remember, this is an activated basecoat system; only mix as much as is needed. Pot life is about 2 hours at 70°F.

Questions & Answers
I have a few areas that seem a little grainy, can I sand the basecoat before applying clearcoat?
Yes, this can be sanded prior to applying your clear coat. We recommend finishing with 600-800 grit prior to applying your clear.

I understand this in non metallic and non pearl why after 18 hours of sanding do I have to apply another base coat? Can I apply the base coat, sand next day, clear following day?
You do not have to apply additional paint after 18 hours. After 18 hours has elapsed; this will have fully cured. Once fully cured nothing further will chemically bond to the surface so you will need to sand prior to applying your clear to obtain a mechanical bond between the two.

Would there be an optimal Lapse of time between a second application of basecoat?

A gallon of Marine Paint will cover 400 sq. ft. does this mean that a gallon of Eastwood Basecoat will give a thick covering of 160 sq. ft.?
This kit yields 5 useable quarts once mixed. This will cover about 150-160 SQ FT.

I’m painting a 52 gmc. Will one gallon of paint and clear coat be enough to paint the whole truck not the bed floor?
One gallon kit will yield about 5 useable quarts so one of these should be enough for what you plan to apply to.
