Product Overview:

Description

Eastwood's MIG 140 Welder

Get the best performance and value on DIY light metal fab by choosing an Eastwood welder. The Eastwood MIG 140 is the new-and-improved version of our popular MIG 135 welder that's perfect for sheet metal or even for beginners who want to start with light metal fab. The R&D guys have updated it to the latest IGBT inverter technology. This allows you do to the same high-quality welding on thin mild steel and stainless steel with a welder that weighs less than 25 pounds. That makes it easy to bring your welder to a project. Other new features include separate 2T/4T modes for long welds, a tack weld setting for hanging body panels and a metal drive motor that runs super-smoothly.

The high quality welds in sheet metal and thin steel as well as the overall performance matches and often exceeds more expensive MIG welders. This unit comes with a Tweco-style torch, gas regulator and consumables for MIG welding up to 3/16-inch thick. You can even add a spool gun to weld aluminum (item 20172). Eastwood welding is an affordable way to Do the Job Right on your street car, project car or race car. This welder can run on a standard 120V power supply or using a generator. It also does flux core welding without a gas bottle — or add a spool gun to weld aluminum. This Eastwood MIG welder has a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty and lifetime tech support. Watch the demonstration video above to learn more about the MIG 140.

Guides & Accessories

Instructions

This machine has smart wire feeding technology to prevent forcing excessive wire into the start of the weld. When the machine is not welding and feeding wire, it will feed wire at a slow fixed speed for approximately five seconds, and then speed up to max speed. This is to quickly feed wire through the torch. Once the machine senses that it is welding it will automatically run at the preset wire speed that the user has set on the machine. Do not be alarmed when the wire feeds slowly while not welding.

Safety Information

Welding fumes and gasses can be hazardous to your health. Arc Rays can injure your eyes and burn your skin. Wear correct eye, ear, and body protection. Do not touch live electrical components! Keep your head out of the fumes. Wear breathing protection when welding.

Accessories

Weld Aluminum with a Spool Gun

Many cars and trucks have aluminum parts, or you may need to weld aluminum for a metal fabrication project, and with a spool gun you can weld 14-gauge to 1/8-inch aluminum. Quickly and easily connect or remove it as needed for working on different parts and panels. The spool gun is sold separately and is a great addition to your MIG 140 and you can check out item 20172 here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Welder! Had many and used many welders over the years. This is a great little at home welder. Definitely comparable to a Hobart or Miller with build and function quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good little machine! I bought the machine with intentions of just doing automotive sheet metal work, and thats all I have used it for so far. Runs very smooth, the adjustments are easy to dial in to your needs. I have ran allot of other brand machines, and I really think, that for the money, this is your best bang for the buck in thin gauge metal welding. Hoping it will last.

Questions & Answers

Can you use Flux core wire in this welder

Asked by: Michael
Yes, you can run flux core wire in this MIG welder. We would suggest the use of a knurled drive roller to do so. This can be found here on our website: https://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-mig-135-and175-replacement-knurled-drive-roller.html

Probably already asked…but…besides the usual safety equipment what would I need to weld not using flux core wire? New to the game!

Asked by: Bud the car
All you need is your choice of solid MIG wire and a gas bottle to hook up. For steel we recommend the very common 75% Argon / 25% CO2 mix.

Would this be good enough to repair curb rash on aluminum rims

Asked by: Johhny
To weld aluminum you will also need the #20172 spool gun with this welder. MIG welding aluminum isn't as controllable and clean as TIG welding, which is what I believe most do for wheel repair, but I see no reason it wouldn't work. You may end up doing additional grinding and clean up compared with TIG.

What size are the 2 o-rings on the machine end of the welding cable?

Asked by: Terrance
The factory installed torch O-Rings measure to a Ø16mm OD with a 2mm thickness. We will be offering these for purchase on our website in the near future.

Will this welder work well for replacing auto body 1/4 panels?

Asked by: rick
Yes - this welder will be excellent for auto body sheet steel work. It includes a spool of 0.023" solid wire (the ideal size for your job). All you need to get started is a 75% Argon / 25% CO2 mix welding gas bottle!

I have a Eastman 140 mig welder. When I pull the trigger to feed welder it starts slow, then pickup speed. Is this normal? I was concerned for spot welds.

Asked by: Hbennett
Yes this is normal. You will not have control of your wire speed until you strike the arc, then you can use the speed knob to adjust and it will vary to what you have it set to.
