MIG and Flux Consumables

MIG welding utilizes a variety of consumable components to facilitate the welding process. Flux-core welding generally utilizes a MIG welding machine but without the presence of a shielding gas. Eastwood can supply everything you need to keep the MIG or flux wire turning, whether you have one of our current MIG 140 or MIG 180 welders, an older Eastwood MIG welder like a MIG 135 or MIG 175, or a welder from another brand altogether. We have flux-core wire and solid wire, replacement tips, new drive rollers, complete torches and accessories.

MIG Welding Wire

MIG welding wires are available in various materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other alloys. Welding wire diameter selection depends on factors such as material thickness, welding amperage, and wire feed speed. Common wire diameters range from 0.6 mm to 1.6 mm (0.023 inches to 0.062 inches) and is typically sold in spools ranging from small (suitable for hobbyists and light-duty welding) to large (for industrial and high-volume welding applications). Eastwood stocks most popular wire sizes and materials for DIY welders and their projects.

Flux-core Welding Wire

Flux-cored welding wires consist of a metal sheath surrounding a core of flux material. The flux core may contain a combination of materials such as rutile, iron powder, slag-forming agents, and deoxidizers. These self-shielded wires generate their own shielding gas when exposed to the heat of the welding arc, eliminating the need for external shielding gas. Flux-cored welding wires come in various diameters, typically ranging from 0.8 mm to 2.4 mm (0.030 inches to 0.094 inches). The choice of wire diameter depends on factors such as material thickness, welding position, and welding parameters. Eastwood has you covered with a selection of different flux-cored welding wire.

Contact Tips

Contact tips, typically made from copper or copper alloys, provide good electrical conductivity and resistance to heat and wear. Tip size depends on the diameter of the welding wire being used, and using the proper contact tip size ensures smooth wire feeding and stable arc operation. Eastwood offers a selection of contact tips in various sizes to fit MIG 140, MIG 180, and other Eastwood welder as well as other machines that use commonly-used Tweco welding torches.

Gas Nozzles and Diffusers

Gas nozzles direct the flow of shielding gas around the weld pool and protect the welding wire from atmospheric contamination. They come in various sizes and shapes to suit different welding applications and joint configurations. Gas diffusers are installed inside the gas nozzle and help distribute shielding gas evenly around the welding wire for optimal gas coverage and weld quality. Eastwood has a full selection of nozzles and diffusers for many MIG welding machines.

Drive Rolls and Liners

Drive rolls, also known as feed rolls or drive rollers, are responsible for pulling the welding wire from the spool and feeding it through the MIG torch and welding gun. Properly adjusted drive rolls ensure smooth and consistent wire feeding. Liners are flexible tubes that guide the welding wire from the wire feeder through the MIG torch to the contact tip. They come in various sizes to accommodate different wire diameters and prevent wire tangling or kinking during feeding. Trust Eastwood for quality replacements for worn drive rolls and liners.
