Product Overview:

Description

Eastwood's MIG 140 Welder

Get the best performance and value on DIY light metal fab by choosing an Eastwood welder. The Eastwood MIG 140 is the new-and-improved version of our popular MIG 135 welder that's perfect for sheet metal or even for beginners who want to start with light metal fab. The R&D guys have updated it to the latest IGBT inverter technology. This allows you do to the same high-quality welding on thin mild steel and stainless steel with a welder that weighs less than 25 pounds. That makes it easy to bring your welder to a project. Other new features include separate 2T/4T modes for long welds, a tack weld setting for hanging body panels and a metal drive motor that runs super-smoothly.

The high quality welds in sheet metal and thin steel as well as the overall performance matches and often exceeds more expensive MIG welders. This unit comes with a Tweco-style torch, gas regulator and consumables for MIG welding up to 3/16-inch thick. You can even add a spool gun to weld aluminum (item 20172). Eastwood welding is an affordable way to Do the Job Right on your street car, project car or race car. This welder can run on a standard 120V power supply or using a generator. It also does flux core welding without a gas bottle — or add a spool gun to weld aluminum. This Eastwood MIG welder has a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty and lifetime tech support. Guides & Accessories

Instructions

This machine is equipped with Smart Wire Feeding technology. This feature prevents the welder from feeding excessive wire at the start of the weld. When the torch trigger is activated - but before an arc is struck - the wire feeds at a reduced fixed speed for up to approximately five seconds. Once an arc is struck, the machine senses that welding has begun and automatically increases the wire feed to the preset speed. Do not be alarmed when the wire initially feeds more slowly than expected.

Safety Information

Welding fumes and gasses can be hazardous to your health. Arc Rays can injure your eyes and burn your skin. Wear correct eye, ear, and body protection. Do not touch live electrical components! Keep your head out of the fumes. Wear breathing protection when welding.

Accessories

Weld Aluminum with a Spool Gun

Many cars and trucks have aluminum parts, or you may need to weld aluminum for a metal fabrication project, and with a spool gun you can weld 14-gauge to 1/8-inch aluminum. Quickly and easily connect or remove it as needed for working on different parts and panels. The spool gun is sold separately and is a great addition to your MIG 140 and you can check out item 20172 here.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for your money in this price range Right out of the box it ran perfect! Setup was fast and easy and great beads too. The shield is not really worth of positive reviews, but welders will have (or should have) the best hoods for themselves already.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5 stars all the way Works great! I’m welding new panels in on a 1979 Ford F150. Very easy to use and set up

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very impressed Works well in a production body shop. At first I didn’t think I was going to like the way it welded. Did an amazing job. Very easy to use. Instruction book was very detailed for set up. I also love the tack feature. Haven’t used the cruise feature yet, I’m mainly doing plug welds and small stitch welds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Impressed for the price! I bought this unit a good while ago, after my ancient Miller 120 Auto Arc died while working on some rocker panels. Having stepped away from my project for months I finally came back and put this welder to use. Using .030 Flux Core I'm getting much cleaner tacks than what the old Miller could produce (Obviously having a bottle would be much nicer, but the flux core has actually been half pleasant to use. Which I've not said before.) For my purposes, which is primarily light duty sheet metal work, and the rare tractor repair, this is a fantastic unit at a great price. If I didn't have both a dedicated TIG & Stick machine I would have sprung for the multipurpose version, but if you want a MIG only you cannot go wrong with this one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Choice Excellent choice does exactly as I hoped priced very good. You won’t find better for money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great welder Another great product from Eastwood. This one replaced a 40-year-old Sears Craftsman MIG that finally gave up the ghost. The new one does everything advertised and does it well. Easy set-up and operation, it even fit the old welding cart, and is lighter to boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great welder I had two Miller welders trying to weld sheet metal and it was rough at best. Saw this on sale and thought I would try it. I'm very pleased with its performance. I feel like I can weld again. I sold one of the Millers for more than I gave for this but it does a much better job.

Is the use of pure argon gas a must when using the spool gun for aluminum? What happens if one uses the 75-25% gas on aluminum?

Asked by: Keith
Yes, you need to use 100% Argon for Aluminum to get proper shielding effect. If you use 75/25 your results will be horrible, as if you were welding with no gas at all.
