SPRAY GUN SETUP

HVLP Gun: Fluid Tip 1.4-1.8 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 25-30 psi

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Eastwood Epoxy Primer should be applied in medium wet coats, with a 30-minute flash period between each (at 70 °F). Typically, one to two coats is enough to achieve the desired 1 mil. dry film thickness, though more material may be applied as needed. Additional build requires longer flash periods between coats. Epoxy primer may be topcoated after approximately 30 minutes (wait 45-60 minutes after applying more than two coats), or up to about five days. After five days, primer MUST be scuff sanded prior to topcoat application. May be sanded (wet) the day after application. Wait two to three days before sanding dry.

Safety Information

Always wear eye, respirator and skin protection. Use in a well ventilated area away from open flame. Consult MSDS for specific warnings and precautions

Is there any way to tint the epoxy? I'd like to add a brown color to it. Thank you

Asked by: ToddF
Unfortunately, no. This can not be tinted or altered with anything other than any of our other Eastwood Epoxy primer options which we have gray, white and black.

I'm restoring a fiberglass van hightop. It has some cracks in the old gelcoat so I was thinking of redoing the gelcoat and then painting over it to match the rest of the body. I have Eastwood Epoxy primer, basecoat and 2 clear. Would this all work?

Asked by: sebbo
Yes, this sequence of products would be great for the application in reference.

can body filler or polyurethane primer be applied over this primer? If so, what are the instructions?

Asked by: stude
Yes, either would be perfectly fine. It can technically be applied 30-45 minutes after applying the Epoxy up until 5 days. After 5 days the Epoxy will need to be sanded prior to applying anything further as it will have fully cured.

Can Eastwood Epoxy primer be top coated with a quality lacquer primer/surfacer and then painted with nitrocellulose lacquer? Thanks

Asked by: Arcieri
We can not guarantee compatibility with anything we do not sell- but a reaction would most likely occur between the products referenced.

I will be using epoxy first and urethane primer second. If I put two coats of epoxy down. How long after the last coat of epoxy can I start spraying urethane. And do I always have to sand in between each coat. Or can I just spray right away if everything.

Asked by: Christopher
You can apply the Urethane over the last coat of Epoxy as soon as 30-45 minutes after applying. This can be applied right over (without sanding) up until 5 days after applying this last coat. Anytime after- you will have to abrade the surface prior to top coating since the Epoxy is fully cured at this point.
