Product Overview:

Description

Eastwood Boulevard Black - A timeless classic, Boulevard Black is suitable for any type of vehicle.

Eastwood's premium Single-Stage Acrylic Urethane Topcoat provides exceptional long-lasting beauty and durability.

  • Catalyzed urethane for unsurpassed durability
  • Highly resistant to UV rays, chemicals, chips
  • Makes 1 sprayable quart when mixed 3:1 with a required activator
  • Approximate coverage: 30 SQ FT
  • Max Temperature: Paint will handle up to 300 degrees without delamination, but color shift may occur, so it should not be used in a high heat setting

This premium 2-component topcoat system is blended with top-quality raw materials and advanced composition coatings technology. Superior to acrylic, alkyd and lacquer coatings. Eastwood's single-stage urethane paints hold their gloss longer and won't yellow.

SINGLE-STAGE PAINT MIXING RATIOS
Thoroughly mix three parts single-stage urethane paint with one part Activator. No additional reduction is required but can be used as needed. Use caution in mixing materials as Eastwood’s single-stage urethane paint may begin to gel after approximately two hours (at 70 °F).

PAINT GUN SET-UP
HVLP Gun: Fluid Tip 1.3-1.5 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 25-30 psi
Conventional Gravity: Fluid Tip 1.3-1.6 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 45-50 psi
Conventional Siphon: Fluid Tip: 1.4-1.8 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 45-50 psi

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Apply single-stage urethane paints in two to three medium wet coats as necessary to achieve sufficient coverage, allowing ten minute flash between coats. Additional coats may be necessary to achieve total coverage for some metallic colors. A final “fog coat” may be applied with metallic colors to help set an even flake pattern and /or adjust flake orientation. A dry film thickness of approximately 2 mil is recommended. Paint should be dust free within 10-15 minutes and tack-free within one hour (at 70 °F). Re-coat anytime after the previous coat has flashed, or before 18 hours. After 18 hours, paint should be abraded prior to re-coating for proper adhesion purposes.

This urethane paint may be applied as a stand-alone single-stage system, or in combination with Eastwood’s High Solids Urethane Clear as a basecoat/clearcoat system. Additionally, Urethane Clear may be integrated into Urethane color. When combining the two systems, be sure to activate each side (the paint and the clear) separately, with their own activators at the correct mix ratios, before blending.

When used as a Single-Stage Urethane Paint, this coating may be wet-sanded and polished for increased depth and gloss like any other urethane topcoat. Care should be taken when lightly cutting metallic colors to prevent disturbing aluminum flake.

FAQs

(Q) Do I need a clear?
(A) No, but you should use a clearcoat over metallics.

(Q) How much paint do I need?
(A) Typically one gallon per car. If you are also painting jambs, under the hood, or the trunk, use 2 gallons. For large cars and pickup trucks, use 2 gallons. Number of coats, prep and application methods will affect the amount of paint required.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boulevard Black Gloss Very easy to mix and apply. Went on smooth and orange peel free.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product - Not for Novices Seems like a good quality paint and should work well for those with skills and pro equipment. I don’t have a great HVLP rig or much experience unfortunately, so my results were very poor. Just couldn’t get the paint to atomize using the recommended 1.0 tip, and ended up with the worst orange peel ever. Had to sand the heck out of it to get back to flat; blew through to primer everywhere. Total bust.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Single stage doesn't work The paint seems to have alot of solvent pop and that is usying it as directed. And changing the temp on activator doesn't really seem to help.

Questions & Answers

What is the recommended primer for use under this product? (Bare metal and painted metal examples appreciated!) Any kinds of automotive primer that simply won't work well with this product?

Asked by: ctgriffi
Unfortunately we can not guarantee compatibility between our products and other brands. You would have to test this on your own on scrap metal first if you plan to intermix brands. This paint is compatible with our Self Etch, Epoxy, Urethane and Polyester primers that we sell.

Is this just a slightly lower sheen than gloss black? Looking for something not so glossy for an antique car.

Asked by: Big Al
This is still considered a gloss (full gloss) black paint. If comparing to our Interstate black- you will notice a difference between the two. Our Interstate black gives a wet gloss look that is more intensified than our other gloss blacks.
