Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool But..... I got the Contour SCT and I love the tool, but just like every other tool, certain tools are great for certain jobs. This tool works best on cleaning up old restos and body filler, but not great with lacquer/enamel coatings, a 8” mud hog at low rpms will out perform day and night the Contour SCT in that aspect. I love how it preps the metal and how clean it looks. I still (from habit) dia the metal with 80 grit before epoxy. I love that it is electric and not air, the trigger lock, the drums for me have been great and been getting used to them. Overall a great tool, great to use at home or in shops.

I own a pontoon boat the aluminum tubes have some corrosion and tarnish would this tool work and if so which wheel would I use?

Asked by: Rich c23
While we have never directly tested on such an application your best bet would most likely be the buffing wheel with your favorite metal polish to clean the aluminum tubes back to a high shine.

How can I strip paint from concrete curbing

Asked by: Jack77
We have never tested our SCT on Concrete to see if it can remove paint. The only drum that would have any shot of getting into the recesses of concrete would be our Scaling drum.

Attempting to strip old run down paint down to bare metal on a 1994 Mazda RX-7. I am aware of how thin metal can be on JDM sports cars. Am I taking to much of a chance of warping the metal on this car using this tool?

Asked by: Rotorhead29
As long as you keep this tool moving across the surface and don't sit in one spot the metal will not get any hotter than it would on a hot summer day in the sun.

Is this better than using a dual action sander? I have a 1966 Chevy Corvair that I want to strip to the bare metal (it has some rusty spots as well). I'm not sure what tool to use and I don't want to waste my time and money. Help me please.

Asked by: Mimo
Our Contour SCT is a great way to clean off old paint much more quickly than using a DA.
