Eastwood Boulevard Black Basecoat Paint adds the superior durability of urethane to the ease of conventional basecoats.
Apply a durable urethane finish wherever you live in the continental US, even CA
Choose a fast, medium or slow Low-VOC Activator
Makes 5 sprayable quarts
Clearcoat is required on basecoat paints
Mixes 4:1 with your activator choice
Approximate coverage: 160 SQ FT
Max Temperature: Paint will handle up to 300 degrees without delamination, but color shift may occur, so it should not be used in a high heat setting
Made in the USA
Basecoat Paint Kit is a low-VOC system, so it meets regulatory limits in highly-regulated areas, eliminating the need to switch to a waterborne system.
Thoroughly mix four parts Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat with one part Low-VOC Urethane Activator. Use Fast (50308ZP) for small jobs, or temps below 75°F; Medium (50309ZP) for small jobs, or temps between 70-85°F; or Slow (50310ZP) for large jobs, or temps above 80°F. Keep in mind, other factors, such as humidity, air flow and total film thickness should also be considered. In many situations, it will be useful to add 10%-20% 50104ZP Zero-VOC Reducer to aid sprayabliity, flow and leveling. Remember, this is an activated basecoat system; only mix as much as is needed. Pot life is about 2 hours at 70°F.
PAINT GUN SET-UP

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Apply Low-VOC Urethane Basecoat color in two full medium wet coats with a consistent 50% overlap pattern. Allow five to ten minutes flash time between coats. Flash time should increase if additional coats are applied. Most colors will cover in two coats.
Basecoat should dry dust-free within 10-20 minutes. May be lightly sanded in as few as 20 minutes. Wait at least 30 minutes before wet sanding. Wait 45-90 minutes before taping on the fresh film. All dry times are approximate, at 70°. Temperature, air flow, total film thickness and other variable may extend these times.

Perfect black for my 2007 TahoeI bought this black to paint a fender. It was my 1st time painting and I finally got the courage to do it after watching a lot of eastwood videos. It came out better than I hope for after buying everything I needed from the eastwood website. I bought the base, clear coat, activators, reducers, and the 6 pcs polishing kit. Thanks and I will be back!
Should it be sanded before clear coat or can it be clear coated within a time period after last coat of base?
Asked by: Clog
4:1 basecoat can be cleared after waiting at least 30 minutes. It must be cleared within 18 hours to ensure proper chemical bonding. If more than 18 hours have passed, the surface must be abraded with 400-600 grit sandpaper.

Not all blacks are the same....Ford and Chevy blacks are different in my experience. What tints are in your boulevard black....If I need to do a repair paint in 2 yrs and need to purchase paint will your Boulevard Black match the previous lot.
Asked by: Chuck
I doubt any pain will be an absolute match after 2 years.
If you are concerned, buy an extra can to insure an exact match.

What is the best activator they use in the paint
Asked by: Towman
This paint will only work with the 3 activators listed with this paint. The 3 options are all temperature based depending upon what temperature you will be applying this in:
Slow 80-90 Degrees F
Medium 70-80 Degrees F
Fast Below 70 Degrees F

The instructions say to apply it with a High Volume spray gun. If I have a small compressor with low CFM, could I get away with using a Low Pressure Low Volume gun instead?
Thank you.
Asked by: Btn74
This paint can be applied with LVLP paint guns too.

Boulevard Black specs say: HVLP Gun: Fluid Tip 1.2-1.4 mm Inlet Spray Pressure 8-10 psi.
8-10 psi??? Is that correct?
Asked by: Mike
8-10 PSI is the cap pressure. To achieve this you'll want to tune your gun to 25-30 PSI going into the gun with the trigger pulled. Having a regulator right at the base of the gun makes this adjustment easy and precise.
