The Eastwood Mini Rotary Metal Shear Features:

  • Throatless design

  • Rotary design allows for both straight and curved cuts

It is precision designed and manufactured to allow for quick and easy trimming of sheet metal pieces and the rotary design allows for both straight and curved cuts. Hardened, round, cutting dies produce clean, burr-free cuts in aluminum, steel and other mild metals.

With a strong steel construction, this Rotary Cutting Shear and throatless design makes it perfect for cutting up to 18 gauge sheet metal. Customer Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great!! I bought this along with a 24” box and pan brake for installing a new furnace this month (had to rework the plenum for new furnace). I have to say overall it’s a pretty good value. I didn’t have to set anything up or adjust the cutting wheel. It’s a little tricky getting it to cut straight at first, but after a few cuts it’s no problem at all. I did spray a little lube behind the wheel and where the “catch” is off the handle, made it work even better. Makes nice, clean cuts and is so much easier than using snips. Especially cutting down 26” long sheet metal.....just make sure wheel and piece to be cut are lined up, cause if it’s starting out crooked you could end up with a little distortion on finished piece. For less than $50 bucks, can’t go wrong. I paid dang near $50 just for a quality pair of snips. I took off 1 star just because the design is a little cheap......and the catch sometimes doesn’t catch right away.....the lube helped significantly, but still not perfect. Overall though, I’d recommend to a friend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, Compact cutter This cutter does a great job in a small space. I use mine for 18ga mild steel, and it cuts it like butter. Straight cuts are easy, and it handles curves well, too. The top wheel feeds the material through the cutter for you. The 'waste' material is on the right side of the machine, so when you make curved cuts they are best done in a clockwise direction. I can get about a 2" radius with no problems. Any tighter than that and you start to 'fight' with the feed wheel. I initially had a little trouble with it, the wheels weren't adjusted correctly and it just fed material through without cutting. There is no information in the manual about adjusting them, but an E-mail to Eastwood customer service solved the problem quickly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from waste of $$ You should run as fast as you can from this piece of junk. How do I know? I bought it back in the '80's. Yes 1980's. Back then it was made by Sykes-Pickavant, Ltd. a company out of England. Eastwood was buying lots of product from England then. Design has changed little; except now it's probably made in china. Recently I got it out to see if I could get it to work. Nope. Still junk. Here is a picture before it goes in the iron pile.

Questions & Answers

Does one need experience and skills to make straight cuts? Would a stop bump on the left side be enough to make straight cuts or will it strongly tend to go to either side while rolling? Is it recommended for easily cutting 0.063-090 aluminum sheets?

Asked by: GoldRusher
The Eastwood Throatless Shear (11797) will give you straight or curved cut with ease. It will easily cut Aluminum to 11 gauge or .125". It will also cut mild steel to 14 gauge and stainless steel to 18 gauge. Eastwood does not carry a stop bump for this shear.
