Eastwood Zinc Rich Galvanize Aerosol 13 oz is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK but difficult to use The spray pattern is more like a stream, not a fan. Good filler primer, the surface when dry is grainy and needs sanding to smooth. Weld through with TIG requires double the amperage. A Good product if used as a very base coat to protect from rust because of length of time between initial welding, final welding and fitment to be followed with sanding, primer, color, and clear coat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not enough, rubs off This is not the first time I've bought it and previously just used it in small amounts and spaces. I tried to paint the entire 2 fuels lines but it wasn't enough and then when handling the lines to install the material came off in my hands.

Will this product adhere properly to galvanized steel where the galvanization has deteriorated (assuming the surface is first prepared by slightly abrading it)? Is this the best product for that type of application?

Asked by: Habby
As long as the surface is abraded and cleaned with a degreaser you would be good to go.

My son is replacing his gas tank and I told him he could use this to coat his tank before installing since I had a couple of cans.  Would this be an appropriate application? John

Asked by: bluegto
While this would work is isn't the best coating as it is sacrificial and you would have to re apply from time to time. Our Tank tone would be a much better option.

I have several areas of lower kick panels (automotive bodywork) that will not be able to be painted once assembled and welded. Is this a good product to be sprayed on the bare metal where ground for welding and the painted repair panels before welding?

Asked by: John 316
This is a great product to protect internal metal.

In what cases would I use Eastwood Zinc-Rich Galvanize over the Eastwood 2K Ceramic Primer? Should the two be used together? Is there any advantage?

Asked by: mgbtim
There would never be a situation in which you'd need to use it over any primer.

Can this product be topcoated with automotive base coat/clear coat?

Asked by: Beez
No it can not. You would want the encapsulator for rust treatment and then prime and paint.

Is this the closest product you have to a galvanized finish? If so do I need to use a primer for better adhesion? If so what is the product numbers? Thanks

Asked by: Bandit
Yes this will be the closest to a zinc galvanized finish we carry, along with rust prevention properties. No primer is needed
